Kite-flying was banned in Afghanistan during Taliban rule, but it is again out in the open, over the hills of Kabul. Like this man, these Afghan fliers are engaged in kite-fighting. ....after many years of U.S. presence! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Wouldn't it just have been easier for taliban to ban people. Guess that is why their called the TaliBAN, probably means TOTALBAN.
Chances are remote that an UAV will run in to them. The volume of space is too much...it is like a needle in a hay stack....
Those kite fighters have some awsome skill, I saw a demo where one cut the other's kite strings, and then captured the loose kite by swirling around the cut thread, and bringing it back down. Amazing for a single control line!
haven't some people died because of that? The glass covered string catches them across the throat and zip...blood everywhere.
It can happen...but those people wear head gear that flows both sides of the neck and hence the neck is protected. More like they will cut their hands...but this type of activity is frowned upon...only in free style competition where anything goes...that is few and far between.
In Pakistan there is a city where during the 3 day kitefest 2-3 dozens of people die due to injuries....
