We have almost 3000 members but very few engage on a regualr basis. May I suggest that we lick the "Out of sight and out of mind" by sending timely emails to all with a sample selection of debate (good ones) and inviting them to participate. Just a thought....
This is done in other forums. Notices of change, contests (such as the current one here), and chat events (when the option is offered). It gives wide spread reminder of what's going on.
Agreed. This is something I would like to improve. I had been experimenting with a 'weekly community newsletter' that would send out a message each week reminding users of their username/password along with links to things such as the top new threads during the week, new announcements, etc. This would be enabled by default, but could be turned off in the user preferences. I wasn't able to get it working initially, and haven't had time lately to try again -- rest assured it is a priority.
