The study published in the journal Nature tells us the following information: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) were generally down-regulated in tumors compared with normal tissues. miRNA expression profiles were used to classify poorly differentiated tumors successfully; whereas messenger RNA profiles were highly inaccurate when applied to the same samples. This study indicates the potential of miRNA profiling in cancer diagnosis.
