I'm just wondering . . . Is it gonna be a lot of work? Or is it just moderating when ya happen to check in? Are there criteria which I must meet, such as age, post count, etc.? And do I have to be interested in General Science and Technology?

    Athelwulf,

As a moderator you will be expected to delete uncivil, un-intellectual or off-topic post, move threads that are improperly placed in your forum, merge similar threads, ect. You will be expected to be able to check on your sub-forum often. If you feel you can do all of this please nominate your self.

Be warned that as a moderator many will find offense with your moderating decisions, will complain and harass you. Not only I but also many others moderators here have had banishment and impeachment poll made against them.

And if I later decide I don't wanna be mod anymore?

. . . After a lengthy period of service, of course.

You can resign at anytime, many moderator have. Just don’t drop your candidacy during elections as that might screw things up.

How often is often enough? I come in quite a few times a week.

Well hell, I think I come by often enough. I nominate myself for Moderator status for General Science and Technology.

(I don't think I'll win the elections, though

A few times a week is probably good enough for that sub-forum, make sure you email is working though: every time someone hits the report button it sends a email to the moderator of that sub-forum. Don’t worry if you don’t win its not like it’s the greatest thing on earth to be, in fact it can be a pain at times.

I would check on it at least twice a day (I put time into my schedule for computer stuff, once in the morning and at work). I would check even more often on weekends and holidays, there is also often more posting during those times too.
