You and I exist don't we? How did that happen?
The death of human overpopulation and toxic waste.

and this clip may put some perspective on the sanctity of life.

and the next one ends in a profound comment on politics.

There is no "natural" sanctity of life. It often is proposed but the cosmos from which we emerged is not a entity and does not have any mechanism to recognise life or give life sanctity

    See post 141.

Personally I think it's time to introduce cheap high protein soylent green bars. Would solve our hunger problem in the world almost instantly. If we run short, we can always start another war. Lots of raw materials.....and natural to boot. We're aways talking about recycling don't we?

I think we've reached a point in time where, at least in the US, morality doesn't matter anymore so long as you have money...

True, but the "available supply" of money is rapidly beginning to run short.

Example; a town with 1001 people. 1 person making 1 million (non- taxed) dollars per year and 1000 people making 10 thousand (taxed) dollars per year The gross GDP of that town would be listed as 11,000,000. Sounds great, but what is the reality?
1 king and a 1000 paupers. IOW "slavery", the perfect form of Capitalism.

Aye... and with the new GOP Tax Scam, we just shunted another 80+ percent of it to the top earners in the country... yay capitalism?

If we had invested 1.4 trilliom dollars on Infrastructure to begin with, we'd probably would have a thriving economy by now. All we have now is no money, but a boatload of "promises", which will become void in 10 years, while this tax-cut is "permanent"!

It's only permanent for the businesses. The individual ones expire, leaving whoever is in office at the time in a shitty spot - "raise" taxes by letting them expire, or continue to fubar our economy.

Don't hold your breath. Hunger is common to all life, but Greed is the single property which sets humans apart from all other life.

Really? I just recently experienced greed from a mink.

It stole all the fish from my pond in the space of a few hours - far more than it could hope to eat.

Maybe it had a family to feed? I'm pretty sure there will be no waste for the garbage can. It is wintertime and game is sparse.

When humans kill a 1500 lb Elk, they don't eat it at one sitting, but to some that's meat for a year.

    Greed can always be rationalized.

But I think the working definition is simply "taking more than you need".

The working definition of Greed is "taking more than you need".
I am not aware of any animal that takes more than what they need.
Squirrels and many other animals collect a little stash for wintertime. That's "taking what you will need", so you don't starve to death.

Never met a bear who had an imported Italian marble bathroom with golden faucets . There is saying about that......

Some 4 billion years and 2 trillion, quadrillion, quadrillion, quadrillion chemical reactions later.
The toxic wastes we dump into the ocean and upset the chemical balance (especially along the coast lines), plus the CO2 which was sequestered over billions of years being released back into the atmosphere.
    From Worldometer; Environment (this year)

    5,067,636
    Forest loss this year (hectares)

I'll take your details, figures whatever, as given. What the issue is - balance. If we stopped all human activity tomorrow, what balance would you expect to happen when nature (for want of a better word) continues to dump all the river washout into the sea

Sure it's a good idea for any entity not to poop in their own backyard and I'll give you that

Currently on TV here ad encouraging people to use wood, and recycled wood, for because it stores carbon. Well why in no mention made of the release of that carbon when the wood is broken down to be recycled?

Will look at other stuff later

    Now coffee and lunch

While you're at it check out Industrial Hemp, the most ecofriendly plant on earth. It has uncountable applications and 1 acre of hemp can produce as much raw fibre as 20 acres of trees. It can grow in any climate, it requires little H2O and devours CO2 due to its rapid growth rate, and it cleans and stabilizes the soil.

btw, just saw a headline that after 77 years of prohibition, Washington (not the state) has declared it legal to grow in all 50 states again. I'm sure it's due to the fact that almost every country on earth can grow Industrial Hemp and use it for a myriad of industrial purposes. It can even replace plastic and artificial insulation and it has now been proven as an effective natural pain control medicine due to its high CBD content. No more opioids!!!!!!~

Read and be astounded by this oft maligned crop, because of its relationship to the high THC variety.
