Ok, so which is it? It can be new or old.... as long as you bought it this year. Also, where do you listen to it? I would have to say that my finest buy would be Forty Licks by the Stones which I listen to whilst I commute.
crystal balls i'm projecting into the future: i see an image of a cd entitled Mary Star of the Sea. i see me reaching out my hand and picking the cd up and trotting it to the checkout lane. i have bought the new BEST SELLING album of 2003 by Zwan. oh, yeahPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Kathleen Edwards: Failer Partially because it's great music and partially because it inspired (and consequently became the soundtrack for) some absurd adventures of mine in the past few months.
A Perfect Circle -- Mer de Noms I'm into that semi-dark metal and rock, plus MJK is an awesome singer.
The new Amon Amath cd is killer. The new Flaming Lips cd brings back memories of Hawkwind. Ahhh......Hawkwind
thats hard. Being the low-taste being i am, i'd have to say "mobilize" by Anti-Flag or "White Blood Cells" by the white stripes. I think mobilize wins cause it has studio tracks, live tracks, gag tracks, and hidden tracks. whereas TWS only has regular tracks. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! My logic is almost as weird (read:bad) as my taste.
Rosa Mystica (Therese Schroeder-Sheker) while taking a loooong, hot soak. Where you been Biggles? Take care Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Immolation - Close to a World Below It came out in 2001, but I bought it this year. Damned great. A new album called "Unholy Cult" was released recently.
The flaming lips remind you of hawkwind?!?! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Mine was 'and the surrounding mountains' by radar bros.
well... I'm not very big on music. Infact, I'm as uncultured as they come. I dont even know how I got on the arts and culture forum (I actually intended to click on world events one) Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Either way Weezer (my favourite band) released maladroit. fairly nice. Not their best showing but still really good. Blue and Pinkerton were great. Green was...uh...ya. I liked a few songs on green. But my favourite album of this year was definately maladroit. and by the way, the worst albums of this year obviously belong to bands like linkin park, creed, or any such band. I dont think many people would disagree on that. STill..........How could they become so famous if they're music is so blah???
i dunno. creed kinda gets on my nerves but LP is cool. IMHO. i try not to say other people's music sucks, because then in can expect the same.
I don't know any music buy of the year, but I know a few what I would consider music download of the year Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
sorry if I offended any of you with my linkin park/creed statement. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I joke around with my friends all the time over their love of such bands. YOu shouldn't take it personally or anything. I know it's impossible to see my facial expressions accros the internet - but I'm not a troll. Though I said what I trully feel and I'm not prepared to censor my self in fear of hurting other people. I try my best to gain good perspective on any topic so its a pretty good methodology. Once again, it's my opinion and thats the point of this thread isn't it? To criticize the actual music. ________>>Incase you people didn't know, criticism can be both good and bad. What I'd really like to hear what everybody elses' opinions are concerning the worst albums of the year. Dont be shy. Speak UP!! Edit to add :m: This is an interesting smilie Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I forgot about justin timberlake, lol sorry, I tend to block out really bad memories.... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Best NEW buy of the year: Uninvisible - by MMW Best buy of the year I made: probably Tonic by MMW. Tonic is their all-live album and it is largely accousitc. Consider they're three of the most respected musicians in the world today (and before you ask - this comes from the Jazz guys at the Royal Con and every single review I've ever read about them), it's hard to imagine they will ever stop producing music like their first few albums. Then again, I can't believe any band has released as much spectacular music as they have in such a short time. As much as I like to go on about the Beatles, neither Lennon nor McCartney are absolute musical geniuses. They have gifts. John never took a real music lesson in his life and yet he wrote a disgusting amount of beautiful music. But John Medeski, Chris Wood and Billy Martin were all top of their class music graduates and artists. To quote one review; "And Chris Wood simply owns the funk".
