    The Triumph of Genius

It's not really a question of boring. And the physical was certainly there. The thing is, I'm still mystified by what I saw. To the other, I also apparently gave Denver too much credit. I mean, they made it to the Super Bowl, and all.

But then, for whatever reason, they never showed up. It's hard to assess the notion that they did as well as they could; Peyton Manning might well disagree. I've never seen him generally frustrated, much less so frustrated. That is to say, sure, shit happens, but this was some extraordinary shit.

And, yes, as a long-suffering Seahawks fan, it will probably take some time to sink in. That was the other weird thing. I mean, from a fan's perspective, it's still not like being a player, but with a big enough television I actually had to glance up to see the score or the clock, and by the end of the first half, there was an insane dichotomy taking place.

You tell a player that even the big game is still just the game; you have to go out and play like it's any other Sunday.

Like I said, it's not the same thing for a fan, but there was that feeling that it was just another game, and then I would glance up and see the score, and remember that this was the Super Bowl, and, yes, by the end of the first half that confused me.

Watching each play was just like any other Sunday. But whenever something reminded the context of the Super Bowl, it completely threw me.

And to a degree, it's not just that it's my Seahawks, and it's not just that the Broncos have long been a looming menace in my football Universe. This was genuinely surreal.

This was a Super Bowl, and regardless of what Seattle did right, Peyton Manning and the Broncos never really showed up. That's the part I don't get. Even in our celebration tonight, there really is a strange sensation rippling through the Puget Sound region. Yeah, the 'Hawks won. Holy flirking schnitzel! But, really, did I just see that? Really?

Maybe I'm too influenced by the sports press that I generally don't read; but I can tell you that nobody offering the detailed analyses saw this coming.

    Thou art a genius, sir.

To show that many other people do not enjoy the "game" much any longer and to give others support that feel the same way too. This forum is about open thoughts about subjects and because others here like football doesn't mean everyone does.

Must have been an enjoyable show with a score like that. Actually I'd think it would be boring if it turned out with that score.
