You don't clean up a pile of shit by adding more shit to it. Now how about you look at the graph, the spending, deficits and debt is not slowing down , it is still headed up at the same rate, all with money we don't have, the government didn't earn, money taken from our shrinking pay checks and the economy, for projects that create no income or wealth.
Got to spend money to make money. Most of that money comes out of thin air, not our pay checks, taxes today a far lower then they were in USA's prime (1950s-1960s) Supporting Banks and companies that have been the foundations of the US economy is certainly not a useless endeavor.
But the Government can only spend money, they have no way of making money, except a printing press. The only way your saw works is in the private sector, they spend money for raw material, enhance that raw material and then sell it for a profit. Now you got it, the Government is creating money out of thin air, actually off the printing press, (and that excess money will have to be paid for, either by inflation, or deflation) they are not producing a product, that can make a profit, they can only take money out of the economy, and spend it on government projects which produces no profit. When the Government lets Private Business use tax payer moneys in loans that are guaranteed by the Tax Payer, it is a useless endeavor, all it does is encourage business as usual, because it isn't their money, and if they lose it and finally go bankrupt and out of business, what have they lost? nothing, it wasn't their money in the first place and what has the government created? more debt for the nation.
How would you have President Obama and his Democrats fix the problem buffalo roam? What programs would you have them cut? And how much could be saved with each program that you would cut? Would you cut military pensions? Would you have them withdraw from Iraq and Afganistan? Would you have them cut out Medicare and Social Security? Just what programs would you cut buffalo roam that the Democrats have not yet cut?
joe, I would have them cut all of the programs not allowed under the Enumerated Powers, and under the Enumerated Powers and the General Welfare Clause, the Military is a Federal Responsibility, Medicare, and Social Security, are not, let the people keep their own money they have a better idea of how and where to invest and spend it than Washington. There is no money in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or any other government program,( it was all put into the general funds and spent, and more in deficits), the only thing in those funds are Treasury Bonds that the Government can't redeem,(with a negative return rate adjusted for inflation) and only rolls over with the vague promise of cleaning up the mess,. joe, the Constitution, the power belongs first to the People, then the States, and lastly only by those powers granted under the Enumerated Powers does the Federal Government have any thing to say. IX and X Amendments ps: Social Security is going to be cut because we don't have the money to pay for it any more we are now effectively at 2 workers for every retiree, and that isn't counting all of the rest of those who draw from Social Security who aren't retirees. The Democrat's have just effectively gutted Medicare in the Health Care Bill, $500 billion cut out to pay for a new program that is already as scored by the CBO headed into deficit spending and benefit cuts. I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. James Madison
Guess what, your position has no basis in law...statutory or case law. http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/congpowers.htm You can cherry pick the Constitution all you want. But thank God, others in our country take the Constitution as a whole. They don't choose which provisions they like and only follow those. Where does it say in the Constitution that Congress has the right to create an Air Force? It specifically mentions land and naval forces but no where in the Constitution does it give the right to Congress to create air forces. And the Constitution does not mention military, it specifies naval and land forces and an Army and a Navy. The Constitution clearly gives Congress the right to regulate commerce. It is an ennumerated power. Just because you don't like it, it does not give you the right to ignore it. Social Security is not the problem. How Social Security is taxed is a problem. It is a very regressive tax...meaning most of the tax burden is borne by the middle and lower classes. Fix the regression problem and you fix the Social Security problem. Medicare was not gutted by the Democrats. I challenge you to show how the Democrats gutted Medicare? And be specific. Tell us what that 500 billion would have purchased for Medicare reciepients that Obama's healthcare law would not. Medicare is the true funding problem for our seniors. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that when healthcare cost rise at twice the national income, fewer and fewer people will be able to afford healthcare. So let me get this straight, in on breath you decry Obama and the Democrats for gutting Medicare (a false claim by the way) and in the next breath you admit you yourself would gut the Medicare and Social Security programs. Do you see anything deceptive or hypocritical in that buffalo roam? So how would you terminate the Social Security and Medicare programs....just say on x date they are gone?
He would be able to do his job if all the useless Republicans would shut the fuck up, and stop looking out for there big cooperate friends.
Obamba is trying to help the poor People of your country, and all the Republicans are doing is Blocking him, God forbid, a poor man might take an Apple from a rich republicans table.
It is about more than taking an apple from someones table. It is about how we go about our future. Do we want a future that creates opportunities both economic and intellectual or do we want a future that locks in the wealthiest among us and makes life increasingly more difficult for middle class folks and limits their choices?
And That is what the Republicans are all about. The rich stay rich, and the poor stay poor, hungry and in debt to them.
It is more than that, they want people in a state of fear. When people are in a state of fear they become very easily manipulated. That is why the messages that work for Republicans are all messages of fear. Show me a Republican with a positive message. You cannot do it, because such a person does not exist. You cannot run the Republican agenda without fear. Fear is a vital component of the Republican program.
That is very good buffalo roam. Now you need to write that one hundred million times. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! That is exactly what I have been telling you these many months and years.
No joe what you have been telling me is that the enumerated powers are what the politicians in Washington say they are, again; I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on the objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. James Madison "If Congress can employ money indefinitely to the general welfare, and are the sole and supreme judges of the general welfare, they may take the care of religion into their own hands; they may appoint teachers in every State, county and parish and pay them out of their public treasury; they may take into their own hands the education of children, establishing in like manner schools throughout the Union; they may assume the provision of the poor; they may undertake the regulation of all roads other than post-roads; in short, every thing, from the highest object of state legislation down to the most minute object of police, would be thrown under the power of Congress.... Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America." James Madison[/SIZE]
If James Madison were alive today, he would recognize that this country has outgrown the ability to be ruled by his concept of a limited government.
Printing the same old stuff over and over again. But it is not going to make it truthful or relevant. Again show me in the Constitution where it says the Congress cannot make laws like Social Security? It clearly has the power to tax and to regulate commerce. And what one of the many things that you fail to understand is that the Constitution was created over an extended period of time and by many minds. Slavery was legal in the original version of the document. It has now been amended and slavery is illegal. If you are such a strict constructionalist, show me where in the Constitution where it gives Congress the right to create air forces? You have been repeateldy challenged on this and have failed repeatedly to answer the question. You have never complained about Congress creating the Air Force. Using your logic, the US Air Force is unconstitutional. But that does not seem to bother you..
joe, you are confusing the amendment process with the enumerated powers, and do you really want to make the argument that the Air Force is unconstitutional? Now show me were in the Constitution it allows for Congress to; Make individuals the objects of benevolence, with the money of their constituents. The Founding Fathers are Clear and Consice as is demonstraighted in their words and papers: I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on the objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents. Were the power of Congress to be established in the latitude contended for, it would subvert the very foundations, and transmute the very nature of the limited Government established by the people of America." James Madison Article 1 section 8 The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; pay special attention to these words; general Welfare of the United States To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; and according to the dictionary; ar·my /ˈɑrmi/ Show Spelled[ahr-mee] Show IPA –noun,plural-mies. 1.the military forces of a nation, exclusive of the navy and in some countries the air force. 2.(in large military land forces) a unit consisting typically of two or more corps and a headquarters. 3.a large body of persons trained and armed for war. I would have to say the Air Force is a large body of persons trained and armed for war. Now joe, show me where in the enumerated powers Congress has the ability to create a fund to pay the retirement of private individuals. Now one other codicil of the Enumerated Powers that is conviently forgotten; To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof. Congress can only make laws that allow for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers allowed by the Constitution, nothing more nothing less. And one last little point, Welfare as you and the liberals want to use it didn't exist as a Idea in 1787, the first definition as liberals wish to define it wasn't until 1904, so the Founding Fathers would have no conception state sponsored social welfare. Word Origin & History welfare O.E. wel faran "condition of being or doing well," from wel (see well (adv.)) + faran "get along" (see fare (v.)). Cf. O.N. velferð. Meaning "social concern for the well-being of children, the unemployed, etc." is first attested 1904. Welfare state is recorded from 1941.
