Ridiculous. To be logical they should sue themselves. I bet they all have 2 vehicles and have AC in their houses.

Climate change is not the fault of "Big Oil". It is the fault of society, encompassing all consumers and also the inventors and users of energy-hungry devices, as well as the fuel industries. Why does nobody sue Ford or General Motors for addicting Americans to the motor car?

"Big Oil" is just a group they can safely demonise, with conveniently deep pockets for them to try to raid.

It is. The percentage is a calculatable number.
And the percentage contribution they make to AGW can be calculated as well.
    Irrelevant.
Exxon and the rest engaged in deliberate political and media propaganda campaigns to block curbs on their behavior, increase their profit margins, prevent deployment of better alternatives, and so forth. They did this in full awareness of AGW - Exxon's scientists were among the first to get a good idea of the actual consequences and so forth, and deliberately withheld that information from the public while spending millions promoting falsehoods and deceptions that were more profitable for them.
    "Society" did not do that.
Pockets made deep by spreading lies and falsehoods about AGW, which in turn financed more lies and falsehoods to their further profit.

There is no need to demonize - just determine the financial liability they incurred by profiting from deceptive marketing and fraudulent claims, and have them pay it. Like a used car salesman rolling back odometers, or a chemical factory lying about the toxicity of the waste they dumped into the aquifers - they aren't demons, they just owe their victims compensation.
