    How can you tell?

If you look at the history of violence in the world; it may be common religion that has kept people from completely wiping each other out.

I mean look at the Middle East; if they did not share a religion, whats to keep them from killing each other for the oil? Same reason nobody invades Saudi Arabia, inspite of their brutalities.

    Hi (Q).

I respectfully disagree. Humans are inherently violent because of their genes. If you look at the natural world for other examples, we're also inherently peacful by comparison. We have innate mechanisms that stop deadly conflict (compromise, consiliation, cooperation). I do agree however that religion is like giving an AK47 to a testosterone saturated teenager who just got his girlfriend stolen away by Bruno down the street. The outcome is never very good...

Let's not get too extreme one way or the other. I happen to believe that religion is one in a bag of reasons that humans fight.

Ideologies (religious or otherwise) are good reasons because they define the group, which is vital for the survival of the individuals in that group.

    There's

    - Resources
    - Ideologies
    - Females (of course)
    etc...

It's pretty clear how simpleminded we are if you just look at it even a little.

Its a good thing I'm an independent woman; the quality of men available these days is deplorable!!

Must be an evolutionary accident somewhere?

You got it. How else do you think our mammal-like ancestors evaded the dinosaurs for millions of years?

Last I heard those guys were so slow we could have run circles around them...unless they stepped on you. That would have been a mess. Probably why they took to the air ( if that is true?)

Ugh! Sort of like your lemmings tossing themselves off a cliff due to what was it? Lemming depression or something?

And yea, birds are 99.999765% certainy the living descendants of theropod dinosaurs (T-rex, Allosaurus, velociraptor, etc.).

So how did the dinosaurs transform into birds while we're still dragging our feet?

What did they have that we didn't?
