I thought paranoia means distrust and extreme suspicion
so how about confidence as the antonym?

pronoia - "It seems to have been invented by the sociologist Fred Goldner in an article in Social Problems in 1994, in which he defined it as “the delusion that others think well of one”, the unreasoning belief that your superiors think you are indispensable, that your colleagues adore you, and that you are doing brilliantly in your work."

so, is it a word? I don't know, words become words because someone makes it up, people agree on it's meaning and use it. So I guess it's a word.

Cosmictraveller said lack of fear - what about 'fearless'?

But it goes past not being afraid of it to liking it, doesn't it?

People get a rush of adrenalin parachuting out of a plane - which can be both terrifying and/or exhilarating ..... I have a point here somewhere but it's 2.30am and it's just not going to surface, sorry.

    Cheers

Would 'confidence' be close to the opposite of paranoia?

And what if you're confident in your paranoia?

How could you be confident in your paranoia?

Can you give an example, please?

"carefree," or "submissive". A person who is paranoid is ego-centric, so I don't know about that one. Also its possible to have inflated self esteem and still be paranoid.

the more confident you are in your paranoia the more parnoid you are. As well as the more unwilling you are to believe anything other than what you believe.

But surely that isnt a general confidence?
That's just a specific confidence in a particular area (paranoia).
    Or something.
