I've been running this computer setup for about 8 months but just recently switched to Windows Vista Ultimate x64 edition. So far it doens't argue with me at all... very extreme performance, but do you guys have any ideas for tweaking it?

    AthlonX2 5600+ CPU
    Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 Motherboard
2GB Corsair XMS PC6400 (Pair of 1GB, Dual Channel)
    Geforce 8600GT 256bit-Ram GDDR3 256MB (Matched Pair, SLI)
WD Raptor 74GB Hard Drives (Matched Pair, RAID Striped)
    SATA DVD-RW Drive (Litescribe)
Creative Labs X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI Audio Card
Creative Inspire 7700T 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers
Dell 17" LCD Flat Panel with HDMI

Radeon HD 4870 should provide more than double the performance than those 2x8600gt

The new hd4870 is very cheap compared to similary performing GTX 280

I'd probably go for 4GB of Ram at this stage, if your operating system can run it. Memory isn't that expensive right now, and programs seem to be taking more and more of it.

I'm curious to see what people think about the sound card. I'm presently relying on the on-board 7.1 audio from my motherboard, and haven't noticed it sucking.

From what I have read, I don't know that the HD 4870 is as good as NVIDIA's280, but its close and much less expensive.
