I was told that earth's magnetic field is thinning. This is what I'm talking about:http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/09/0909_040909_earthmagfield_2.html What do they mean when they say that the magnetic field could "flip"? Does this have something to do with the poles shifting? Is it something that we should be worried about?
The poles shift periodically so there's no worry if and when they do. Can't say if the magnetic field is becoming weaker because we don't have data from a thousand years ago to see what the strength was to compare to todays readings.
