Even before Obama became president it seemed like he was a little further left-wing then a simple Democrat, preaching class-warfare, demonizing "greedy" capitalism (as Communists do), and being affiliated with anti-Americans (like his rev. Wright), Bill Ayers, and others.

Then sure enough when he gets in office he continues class-warfare talk, and pushes with 200% effort for socialized medicine (one of the cornerstones of Socialism). He and the democrats gave in and scratched out some of the more socialized/controversial aspects of their health bill, but it's just a matter of time before they add it back. He also increases government influence over all Americans, puts them MUCH deeper into debt., and he even takes an axe to America's pride NASA.

Here's Al Sharpton admitting America "voted for Socialism" when they voted for Obama : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqojWrtnieI&feature=related
Obama and his Socialist friends, all from their own mouths : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIo4vQ1RKGc

And why did Obama have a Mao ornament on his Christmas Tree if he's not at least pro-Socialist ?

You know, the Communist leader that killed 10+ million of his own people.

Could you imagine the news media uproar if say GWB had an Adolf Hitler Christmas ornament on his Christmas tree ?
Of course he wouldn't because he's not a Nazi, but you get the point.

When US Senator Arlen Spector switched parties from Rep. to Dem., he was being honest. He leaned and voted that way, so he switched parties.

Do you think Obama should switch his political party affiliation to the "Socialist Party" or the "Communist Party" ?
Or do you think he should have been honest when entering the presidential election and been a Socialist Party candidate from the start ?
Should some of the congressmen that push hard for Obama's "changes" also switch political party affiliation to the Socialist Party ?

To anyone actually informed about left wing issues, he seemed a little farther right than the typical Republican before the Gingrich purge. Solidly to the right of Eisenhower, a little to the right of Nixon.

And so it has proved to be: His major contribution to the early stages of the health care debate, for example, was to take socialized medicine off the table - no single payer even, let alone more comprehensive government ownership.

    But you were saying - - - ?

Farther right? Right wing is for Republicans, Conservatives, Liberitarians, and Tea Partiers. None of which Obama was or is.

I have a feeling for some Communists, if someone isn't solid Communist like themselves, then they're considered "right-wing".
Just like for some Nazi's; if someone isn't a solid Nazi like them, then they're considered "left-wing".

this thread once again shows how were rapidly becoming america the stupid. Obama (and most of the lefties period) aren't communists or socialists. I have yet to here anyone call for government ownership.

Obama is a communist at heart. Or maybe more of a fascist; I mean, he's calling for government-corporate mergers.

Ice has his own definition of Left/Right under which everyone is a right wing authoritarian except for him and, maybe, Karl Marx.

The traditional two-dimensional left-right spectrum is severely flawed, particularly on the right wing. How are extremist libertarians and fascists both right wing? It has to be one or the other; which means that fascism isn't right-wing, or we need more than one dimension. Thus we have the authoritarian-libertarian right and left, but really, all of the left wing is authoritarian.

I've often wondered that myself. They are not at all alike, and yet set side by side.

It used to be left or right like a line. Then there was a square (republican, liberitarian, democrat, and socialist). But more and more options get piled on. And it seems more like a cube. Not limited to left or right. But given options in which way you can go.

I only wish Obama pushed 200% for socialized medicine, but sadly, he did not. He didn't say anything during the campaign to make people think he was anything but a centrist Democrat.

Dealing with this same subject, are there any election laws or regulations against this kind of deception ?
Like Obama going for the presendency under the Democratic ticket, when infact he's not a democrat but a Socialist or a Communist.

Of course, spidergoat wants to force his views on everybody else. After all, that's the leftist ideal: let's spend [everybody else's money].

The Republicans spent too, but no one on the right complained about until now. A government has to spend if it is to exercise any power. I wish Obama was socialist, since I think Democratic Socialism is a worthy goal. The fact that people are using the words communist and socialist to describe mild insurance reform that gives tax cuts to people so that they can buy private insurance is a sign that it's just politics. There isn't even a shred of reality to what these idiots are saying.

I'm not defending what the Republicans did; but doing it to the tenfold isn't a smart idea, then, is it?

The point is that we don't want the federal government to exercise much power; that's the whole point, see. Liberty is more important than powerful federal government...:bugeye:

In a free market, you're free to give and live as you want. With socialism, you don't have a choice; so why don't you support the free market? If YOU want to give all your money to the feds, you be my guest, but leave everyone else alone. What is so hard to get about that?

Egalitarians make me sick, and yes, they are all commies.

True, Republicans in congress were rather liberal in spending during the last decade, and plenty of Republicans on the street were pissed about it. But that spending is totally eclipsed by the spending under the Democrats right now.

I originally used to use the one-dimensional left-right political spectrum. But since discovering the alternative two-dimensional diagram you just described in your post, I have adopted this format instead.

What are you talking about? Obama is a registered Democrat. There are no ideological tests for registering to vote in a particular party.

On the one hand you're calling for less government intervention, on the other you're calling for the government to enforce a litmus test on people who check a box on their voter registration form? Seriously, what's wrong with you?

I love how you resort to personal attacks. That's a sign of defeat in a debate...
