WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush tempered lighthearted remarks to a gathering of journalists Saturday with a declaration that the nation is in a ``period of testing and sacrifice'' spearheaded by a ``new generation of Americans as brave and decent as any before it.''

``As I speak, men and women in uniform are taking great risks and so are many journalists are being faithful to their own sense of duty,'' the president told the 90th annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner.



Referring to upcoming events honoring the World War II generation, he said those warriors can be certain ``that when they are gone we will still have their kind wearing the uniform of the United States of America.''

He said the death last month of former professional football player Pat Tillman ``brought home the sorrow that comes with every loss and reminds us of the character of the men and women who serve on our behalf.''

The president said Tillman ``was modest because he knew there were many like him making their own sacrifices.''

``They fill the ranks of the armed forces,'' he continued. ``Everyday somewhere they do brave and good things without notice. Their courage is usually seen only by their comrades, by those who long to be free and by the enemy. They are willing to give up their lives and when one is lost a whole world of hopes and possibilities is lost with them. This evening we think of the families who grieve and the families that wait on a loved one's safe return.''

These photos are of a the "rape" of two "Iraqi" females.

They were e-mailed to Albasrah. They have not been recognized by any organization but an Islamic site or two.

Bush was apologizing for the treatment of Iraqi POWs, not for the rape of Iraqi civilians. The soldiers in the "rape pictures" aren't even identified. Nobody has aknowledged these pictures as accurate representations of events in Iraq.

does anyone live in the UK?. well did anyone see the "Secret Policemen" Tuesday 21 October 2003 by the BBC (UK), which sparked outrage in the UK. a reporter went undercover to a police training camp in England to investagte racism in the Police. what he filmed sparked outrage in the country, showing many officers being blatanly racist, telling their view of blacks and asians and how the make them pay the "black tax" by unfairly picking on them.

even worse, the poliice officers described the brutal racist killing of Steven Lawrence as "what the fu*king ni*ga deserved" and how they'd gladly do it.

even more horrific, they put on masks like the Klu Klux Klan and started stabbing the air saying how they would of wanted to kill Lawrence. they then plotted how they'd knock on the door of the only Asian policmen in the camp, with the masks on and how they'd beat him and stab him.

each policemen gave examples of how in the past theyd beaten asians and blacks and as policemen who they'd dealt with people of other colours.

i have just said this article just to show that just because they serve their country, it doesn't mean they can't do such barabaric things as seen in Iraq.

What happened to the idea of innocent before proven guilty?

1. The desert uniform is "NOT" green.
2. There was not even any badges, name tags...on these uniform.
3. Green T-shirts were supposed to be worn with these uniforms but one guy wears a "white T-shirt.
4. These uniforms even look different than the real ones.
5. One guy even button his shirt all the way up to his neck. This is not how this uniform is worn.
6. One guy wears a "blue" hat that looks like a baseball hat. This cannot be part of a uniform.
7. Pants are supposed to be tugged inside the boots and not hanging out.
8. One guy has the uniform sleeve way too short to be acceptable.
9. One woman looks hispanic and the other looks asian with white skin. None of them look middle eastern at all.
