    My post was originally about practicing meditation under stress. I only wanted to investigate philosophies that do this so that I can back up my claim about mental fitness.

    I have no intention of purposely increasing stress. Everyday life is full of it already. Rather than fighting it, we can use it to increase our fitness so that life isn't as stressful in the future

    Blaise Pascal knew a few things. Not only was he a great mathematician born in 1623,he also deeply studied philosophy and theology.

    I don't consider him a crackpot or think he was on an acid trip when he said;
    All man's miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone.

    The more emotionally unstable you are the harder it is for you to sit quietly in a room alone.
    Practicing meditation is one of the best workouts and the best training you can do for yourself if you are an emotional wimp
