    Bremsstrahlung is retained from the original German to describe the radiation which is emitted when electrons are decelerated or "braked" when they are fired at a metal target.


    said radiation.... would occur, when said particles are stopped. namely electrons.
    and in all considerations the physical motion of the electron is what is involved in its acceloration, and stopping... with subsequent radiation emmission.

    how do you, sir, in your genius, relate that to the movement of say 2 plates charged at 1 volt... and one meter...
    if we spread the plates to... say... 3 meters... there, we have tripled the voltage in the field... tripled it.

    and yet we are still only at the 3 volt range... and no discharge has occured..
    no electrons have flowed.

    and the ones that were moved were moved slow and at a value of 3 volts.

    where is the x-rays and fulll specrtun radiation you are argueing for.??????????

    Hi MT,

    I know very well the origin of the name. The generation of x-rays is one of the more obvious instances of bremsstrahlung radiation, but it is not the only instance. Any time a charge is accelerated it produces bremsstrahlung radiation. This occurs in synchotron radiation, x-ray tubes, hot plasmas, and even antennas. There is no fundamental difference, only varying amounts of accelerations and therefore varying wavelengths of emitted radiation. The mechanism by which your plates radiate is the same as the mechanism by which an antenna or a synchotron radiates: bremsstrahlung radiation. Any accelerating charge will thus radiate, the principle is not limited to electrons striking the anode of an x-ray tube.

    I really appreciate this conversation. I have finally realized how pointless these conversations are and how rude I have become in them. I am no longer interested in fixing your ignorance or in being rude. I shall leave you and the others to your happy ignorance.

    thats a cop out....

    why dont you argue about the low frequency spectrum that 3 volts might generate if only at the end of the movement.
