Hang on a minute, if the light yellow is underweight what's the white bit? Clinically dead? Medical marvel? I think I'm in trouble.

    Severely underweight.

    Calculate your BMI: wt/ht[sup]2[/sup]

Its not a coincidence. The Chinese girl in my lab for instance was bulimic. Its intense, very intense social pressure. Watch them after they get married.

Ah I've always known where I am, relatively healthy too so I'm not bothered, some are naturally underweight some overweight.
I was more concerned they couldn't be bothered to at least colour it in(let alone label it) as though it's normal in some way. I think this shows something psychological about us, obesity is a great big disaster that's very damaging and unhealthy but having lots of models in the white part is perfectly fine and healthy.

It can be just as damaging to be underweight, likewise some people are overweight on the BMI scale but aren't unhealthy.
IIRC don't athletes often fall into the overweight/obese section due to muscle mass?

that makes two of us. 125 pounds and 5'10... which puts me just barely in the white, I think. (125 lbs = 56.7 kg)

BMI is just a rough guide, it does not distinguish between fat and muscle. Its usually used as an eyeball measure [ie you can see the person is fat or fit].

For more reliable measures of body composition, we usually use a bod pod or dexa.

I think the BMI scale is slightly flawed anyway, as I stated above.

I think there's a lot of people that need telling that, I've known a lot of people fall into the overweight category but they aren't actually carrying much fat at all, they tend to be quite strong and athletic.

BUT I was in the USA for 2 months a my freaken cholesterol went up to 7.5 (which otherwise could have been a sign of liver failure) and I went to 85kg!

So, I think we need to put some pressure on people. It's just too easy to get fat!

It depends on your body frame. Mesomorphs and endomorphs store more fat. Mesomorphs convert it to muscle more easily.

"The Chinese girl in your lab" is not representative of Chinese girls.

Asians are less likely to develop Cellulite. In addition, their usual diet is quite different from western and Indian. I'm sure you'd like to believe its "intense social pressure", SAM, but I don't think they're under any more pressure than anyone else.

Being thin does not infer poor health, any more than being "overweight" does. Only the extremes do so.
That Miss Russia does not in any way look unhealthy... other to someone who is determined to view her as such.

You have to feel quite sympathetic towards women, really. While I the past they were derided for being too fat, now they also have to deal with being labelled unhealthy for being naturally thin. No wonder they have issues.

What really makes me laugh is all these boys mouthing platitudes about what is healthy and what isn't... trying to make themselves all understanding and shit by claiming Miss Russia is "too skinny".
As if they wouldn't jump into bed with her in a heartbeat if given half a chance.
