Rusting steel

I need to rust small steel objects. Some have painted surfaces with exposed steel areas. I would also like to see corrosion develop under the paint as well. Would connecting DC electrical current help the process in salt solution? Also, what would a few good methods be? This is for the purpose of creating a faux finish. Please e-mail pamanzie@aol.com
