Hmm Thought it was about military priests...in WWI it sounded like. Always thought that was the worst hypocrisy ever.

You are correct. You now understand. You are beginning to see what the hypocrisy of war is about.

    The Balance

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...Nyn9cViXPMNB7JwDA&sig2=RqsF2Yw0crqLEzVc3HGsug

    After he had journeyed,
    And his feet were sore,
    And he was tired,
He came upon an orange grove
    And he rested
And he lay in the cool,
And while he rested, he took to himself an orange and tasted it,
    And it was good.
And he felt the earth to his spine,
And he asked, and he saw the tree above him, and the stars,
And the veins in the leaf,
And the light, and the balance.
    And he saw magnificent perfection,
Whereon he thought of himself in balance,
    And he knew he was.

    Just open your eyes,
And realize, the way it's always been.
    Just open your mind
    And you will find
    The way it's always been.
    Just open your heart
    And that's a start.

And he thought of those he angered,
For he was not a violent man,
And he thought of those he hurt
For he was not a cruel man
And he thought of those he frightened
For he was not an evil man,
    And he understood.
    He understood himself.

Upon this he saw that when he was of anger or knew hurt or felt fear,
It was because he was not understanding,
    And he learned, compassion.

And with his eye of compassion.
He saw his enemies like unto himself,
    And he learned love.
    Then, he was answered.

    Just open your eyes,
And realize, the way it's always been.
    Just open your mind
    And you will find
    The way it's always been.
    Just open your heart
    And that's a start.

    Isn't Life Strange

Moody Blues - Isn't Life Strange
Moody Blues - Isn't Life Strange
Moody Blues - Isn't Life Strange
Moody Blues - Isn't Life Strange

    Isnt life strange
    A turn of the page
    Can read like before
    Can we ask for more?
    Each day passes by
    How hard man will try?
    The sea will not wait
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -

Wished I could be in your heart
To be one with your love
Wished I could be in your eyes
Looking back there you were, and here we are.

    Isnt love strange
    A word we arrange
    With no thought or care
    Maker of despair
    Each breath that we breathe
    With love we must weave
    To make us as one
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -

Wished I could be in your heart
To be one with your love
Wished I could be in your eyes
Looking back there you were, and here we are.

    Isnt life strange
    A turn of the page
    A book without life
    Unless with love we write;
    To throw it away
    To lose just a day
    The quicksand of time
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -

Wished I could be in your heart
To be one with your love
Wished I could be in your eyes
    Looking back there you were:

Since this contains the elements of a little dog being killed and insane optimism I'd say its a sad sound in spite of its up beat tempo.
There's also maniacal laughter involved which is always a good thing.

Happy Boy by the Beat Farmers

I was walkin' down the street on a sunny day
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba
Feelin' in my bones that I'll have my way
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba

    Chorus:
Well, I'm a happy boy (happy boy)
Well, I'm a happy boy (happy boy)
Oh, ain't it good when things are goin' your way? Hey hey

My little dog, Spot got hit by a car
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba
Put his guts in a box and put him in a drawer
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba

    (chorus)

I forgot all about it for a month and a half
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba
I looked in the drawer and started to laugh
    hubba hubba hubba hubba hubba

Nice to see the song "Happy Boy"...used to hear hubba hubba spoken from time to time younger, never knew wherefrom it origined.

    * here "Plainsong" by The Cure to add to the thread it is sad. If one were to You Tube it it quite bursts and shimmers.

    Plainsong- The Cure
"Ithink it's dark and looks like rain", you said
"And the wind is blowing like it's the end of the world",you said
"And it's so cold like the cold if you were dead", and then you smiled for a sceond
"It think I'm old and I'm feeling pain", you said
"And it's all running ou like it's the end of the world", you said
"And it's so cold it's like the cold if you were dead", and then you smiled for a second.
"Sometimes you make me feel like i'm living at the edge of the world, like i'm living at the edge of the world."
"It's just how you smile", you said

Yeah! I do to. Several times I thought it would sort of fade into the past and then someone would bring it back again. it seems there is no end to sad songs and everyone knows a few they want to share with others. Also, it's easy to be reminded of a song that you just have to share. I actually listen to every posted song. Can't say I liked them all but some have really brought back memories.

paraphrasing:youve been cold to me so long i'm crying icicles instead of tears.

there aint no way i'm ever gonna love you.

    -words by Jim Steinman

Awesome lyrics right there, the whole song, which i dont feel like looking up right now.

    and another:

If you feel like leaving you know you can go
But why don't you stay until tomorrow?
If you want to be free, you know, all you got to do is say so
And when you feel cold, I'll warm you
And when you feel you can't go on, I'll come and hold you
    It's you... And me forever

Well since you mentioned that strange song I'll add this one as well.

    Stranger In A Strange Land

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...cb3aV6ulW6CKxvpew&sig2=7Zd8Zabj_QpJXtF-zCiftQ

How many days has it been
    Since I was born
How many days until I die
    Do I know any ways
That I can make you laugh
Or do I only know how to make you cry

When the baby looks around him
It's such a sight to see
    He shares a simple secret
    With the wise man

    He's a stranger in a strange land
Just a stranger in a strange land
    Tell me why
    He's a stranger in a strange land
Just a stranger in a strange land

How many miles will it take
    To see the sun
And how many years until it's done
Kiss my confusion away in the night
Lay by side when the morning comes

And the baby looks around him
And shares his bed of hay
With the burrow in the palace of the king

    He's a stranger in a strange land
    Tell me why
    He's a stranger in a strange land
Just a stranger in a strange land

    Well, I don't exactly know
What's going on in the world today
Don't know what there is to say
About the way the people are treating
    Each other, not like brothers

Leaders take us far away from ecology
    With mythology and astrology
Has got some words to say
About the way we live today
Why can't we learn to love each other
It's time to turn a new face
To the whole world wide human race

    Stop the money chase
    Lay back, relax
Get back on the human track
    Stop racing toward oblivion
Oh, such a sad, sad state we're in
    And that's a thing

Do you recognize the bells of truth
    When you hear them ring
    Won't you stop and listen
    To the children sing
Won't you come on and sing it children

    He's a stranger in a strange land
Just a stranger in a strange land

we're in heaven. slow version (this song is sad because something this precious doesn't seem to last or it's vulnerable to be tainted or destroyed by the world, life, jealousy, sometimes forced separation etc)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiowf5Q0auY&feature=related

Baby you're all that I want.
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
    We're in heaven.

Oh, thinking about all our younger years,
There was only you and me,
We were young and wild and free.
Now nothing can take you away from me.
We’ve been down that road before,
    But that's over now.
You keep me coming back for more.

Baby you're all that I want.
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
    We're in heaven.

And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart.
It isn't too hard to see
    We're in heaven.

Now, nothing could change what you mean to me.
    There's a lot that I could say
    But just hold me now,
Cause our love will light the way.

Baby you're all that I want.
When you're lying here in my arms
I'm finding it hard to believe
    We're in heaven.

And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart.
It isn't too hard to see
    We're in heaven.

Now our dreams are coming true.
Through the good times and the bad
I'll be standing there by you.

    (We’re in heaven.)

And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart.
It isn't too hard to see
    We're in heaven.

    The Sounds Of Silence

Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come with talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain, still remains
    Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone, narrow streets of cobblestone
Neath the halo of a streetlamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw, ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared, and no one dared
To stir the sound of silence

Fool, said I, you do not know, silence, like a cancer, grows
Hear my words and I might teach you, take my arms then I might reach you
But my words, like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they'd made
And the sign flashed its warning in the words that it was forming
And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls, and whispered in the sounds of silence

    Melencholy Man

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...wM3XCQ&usg=AFQjCNE7FWgXp24ru_IL4b0mW-i6MUtMSg

    I'm a melancholy man, that's what I am,
All the world surrounds me, and my feet are on the ground.
I'm a very lonely man, doing what I can,
All the world astounds me and I think I understand
That we're going to keep growing, wait and see.

When all the stars are falling down
Into the sea and on the ground,
And angry voices carry on the wind,
A beam of light will fill your head
And you'll remember what's been said
By all the good men this world's ever known.
Another man is what you'll see,
Who looks like you and looks like me,
And yet somehow he will not feel the same,
His life caught up in misery, he doesn't think like you and me,
'Cause he can't see what you and I can see.

    Only The Lonely

Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah
    Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah
Oh oh oh, oh oh ah
Only the lonely, only the lonely

    Only the lonely
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)
Know the way I feel tonight
    (Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
    Only the lonely
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)
    Know this feeling ain?t right
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)

There goes my baby, there goes my heart
They?re gone forever, so far apart
But only the lonely know why I cry
    Only the lonely

Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah
    Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah
Oh oh oh, oh oh ah
Only the lonely, only the lonely

    Only the lonely
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)
Know the heartaches I?ve been through
    (Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
    Only the lonely
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)
Know I cry and cry for you
(Dum dum dum, dummy doo wah)

    Maybe tomorrow, a new romance
No more sorrow but that?s the chance
You?ve got to take, if your lonely heart breaks
    Only the lonely
