SETI@Home vs. ADSL

SETI@Home fails to function over high-speed ADSL connections. These connections via BellSouthNet are buffered thru a cache server. Seti@home program tries to connect, but invariably times out with data read error. Other Bellsouth adsl users have reported the trouble, and as far as I know, none of them have conneceted to seti@home and downloaded data packets successfully. This is unfortunate, as these high-bandwidth circuits - both adsl and cable modems - are becoming more common by the day. rh

That is because you are not getting a direct connection but being buffered. SETI@home seems to be working fine on my SDSL connection through concentric.net. I would complain about the buffering to BelSouth.
