    Hello.

    I need a little refresher here. Left Highscool 20 years ago...

    I want to find an angle (Sin). I remember that Sin = Oposite / Hypo. Oposite is 2" and the Hypothenuse is 22.1".

    What I can't remember is how to do the calculation on the Calculator... Do I input 2 / 22.1 then equals then Sin function or I do 2 / 22.1 then Sin Function???

    Ghislain.

    sinus -1

    Welcome to sciforums....
    I have always had troubles remembering that exactly too, but here's the answer to your question:
    (i have a nice trick to remember, but that's based on dutch, so you don't need it

    )

    sinus equals oposite/hypo
    when we calculate: 2/22.1 = 0,0905
    this is the sinus of the angle you need, to obtain the real angle you have to take the inverse sinus of it, which will give the following answer:

    in degrees:
    5.192242205

    in radian:
    0.0904977376

    (I don't know which is standard in the US.....but with radian you must be able to find out, and with the 'inverse sinus answer' you can calculate it yourself

    )

    SPACE YA!
    (btw, where is the calculation about?)

    I'm building "Camber Plates" to adjust Front Camber on my Car.

    I need to know how much I need of adjustment in order to be able to adjust Camber Properly.

    I'm using the Calculator that comes with Win98. How do I "plug in" the numbers to get the "inverse sinus".

    Sorry about the Basic question but I'm totally mentally stuck...

    Ghislain ...

    Wonder if the mnemonic SOH_CAH_TOA, pronounced as a Native
    American sounding word 'sohcahtoa' would be of any help?

    Sin = Opposite / Hypotenuse
    Cos = Adjacent / Hypotenuse
    Tan = Opposite / Adjacent

    Take care, and welcome to Sciforums

    Tx again.

    hehe, rather similar to the dutch based word:

    s.o.s. Castoa

    (in my math school-book illustrated with a ship called s.o.s. Castoa going down with a certain angle....it is amazing how NOT funny educationers can be)

    oh and, I am from The netherlands, but this is more meant to be in PM's
