The First Law of Philosophy: For every philosopher, there exists an equal and opposite philosopher. The Second Law of Philosophy: They're both wrong. Descartes is sitting in a bar, having a drink. The bartender asks him if he would like another. "I think not," he says and vanishes in a puff of logic.
Which area of philosophy intrests you most? Have you read any ken wilber, hes a late 20th century synthesist/trancendentalist. I dont have a lot of backround myself and would like to get better aquainted with the later philosophers. Took some philosophy in school, mostly basics, some nietczhe (sp?) and some william james, utilitarianism. Get your bachelors in philosophy then go to law school and become a lawyer. Philosophy will instill you with all the logic and reasoning you need to be successful at this job. Plus its high paying.
Ancient, mediaeval, and eastern philosophy. Yes I have read Wilbur but I am not really into him (no offense to anyone who is). I prefer Alan Watts. Ever read any beat philosophy? Yes I have seen that. IMO - it's a good thing he discovered philosophy. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Law The highest scorers on the LSAT (the test you have to take to get into law school) are historically philosophy majors. The same is true for the GMAT - the test for MBA school. Check out this or this for other comments.
I majored in Philosophy and Psychology. Generally, I feel that philosophy classes are bullshit. If you like philosophy then think and read. Read primary sources, read commentaries, read critiques, read critiques of critiques. You can go where you want to go(there is nothing worse than been forced to write an essay on a philosopher/subject that you don't give a rat's ass about and will never use or enjoy). If you want to study Wittingstein then you can study Wittingstein to the depth that you want and as selectively as you want.
