    Hi Kiran,

    What a great post. Danny Kayes' father really did have success, by finding joy in all parts of his life. It can be so easy to take things for granted...I know I do sometimes. This is a good reminder to appreciate what, and who we have in our lives.

    Why does an Arab adage keep coming to mind?

    "Deem no man happy until he has died."

    THEN.... why not try GOD

    Here is the peom titled "PULLEY". It is titles so because there is something which lifts human being to god.That is called PULLEY.

    * The Pulley *

    When GOD at first made man,

    having a glass of blessing standing by,

    "Let us", said He "Pour on him all we can;

    Let the World's riches which dispersed lie,

    Contract into a span ."

    So strength made a way;

    Then beaty flowed;then wisdom,honour,pleasure;

    When almost all was out, God made a stay;

    Perceiving that alone,of all His treasures,

    "rest" in the bottom lay.

    "For if i should ," said He,

    Bestow this jewel on my creature,

    He would adore my gifts instead of Me,

    And rest in nature,not the God of nature--

    So both should losers be.

    "Yet let him keep the rest --

    But keep them with ripining restlessness--

    Let him be rich and weary; that, at least,

    If goodness lead him not,yet wearyness-

    May toss him at my Breast."

    - --George Herbert

    ripining restlessness = uneasiness or anxiety due to dissatisfaction.

    So "WEARINESS" IS THAT PULLEY.

    ...and I would say well done for a superb reply to Kiran's post!

    Perhaps we should expect little from life and we therefore shall be rewarded....

    - Not in Utopia, -subterranean fields, - or some secreted island, Heaven knows where! But in the very world, which is the world of all of us, - the place where, in the end, we find our happiness, or not at all!
