There has always been the knowledge and understanding that politicians lie and/or embellish. It goes with the territory. But this? This is something else entirely and points to a narcissistic display of a pathological liar.

George Santos flipped a previously held Democratic seat in New York's Long Island, causing quite a stir. A gay Republican whose family fled from the Holocaust to Brazil, who had attended Baruch University, worked at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, who owned a multitude of properties, was a multi-millionaire, whose mother worked her way up in a major corporation in Brazil to become a top executive - the first woman to do so according to Mr Santos and on and on the story went.

His unravelling and the outright fraud has recently come to light.

He has never attended university and has no higher education degree of any sort. He does not own any property, has never worked at either company - he has now claimed that a company he worked for had dealings with those organisations. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen. The address he used to register as a candidate - he does not own or live there and apparently the people who live there do not know him and had never heard of him. His mother was a carer for the elderly in Brazil and Mr Santos had faced charges of elderly fraud and forgery, after he apparently stole chequebooks from his mother's elderly clients and went on a spending spree. His gay marriage is also being questioned, since he was married to a woman, until short time prior to his launching his first campaign, where he advised he was a gay man in a same sex marriage. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. And it's ridiculous that this man has told so many lies, that it raises questions as to whether he is in fact gay.

He is not Jewish, but is instead a Catholic man and who has now admitted to not being Jewish and attempted to state that he never claimed he was "Jewish", but that there was some Jewish ancestry and so he was "Jew-ish" - despite his describing himself "as a proud American Jew" by his own words.. https://forward.com/fast-forward/529798/george-santos-jewish-american-republican-congress/

I am trying to swallow the hysterical laughter at this point.

And then today, more came to light as people delved into his twitter feed..

Two years ago, George Santos had also claimed he was a biracial black man: https://twitter.com/SollenbergerRC/status/1608292475403223040

Three years ago, George Santos claimed he had a brain tumor and is susceptible to cancer and that it's in his DNA, as well as immunodeficiency: https://twitter.com/rvbdrm/status/1608294431299338240

In July 2021, he claimed his mother died in 9/11. On the 23rd of December 2021, he posted a tribute to his mother who died 5 years prior: https://twitter.com/NoLieWithBTC/status/1608295347104763906

The list of lies is long. I don't even think I've covered all of them. But these lies cover the surface. The most dangerous lies may actually be in his finances.

In his first bid for the House, Santos said in a 2020 financial disclosure that he had no assets or earned income, and he only cited a commission worth more than $5,000.

But by the time Santos filed his 2022 financial disclosure, he declared he was worth millions of dollars, with most of the wealth coming from a Florida company in which he was the sole owner: the Devolder Organization.

At one point, Santos said on his campaign website that Devolder was a privately held family firm that had $80 million in assets under management, a claim that has since been removed.
Documents filed with the Florida secretary of state show that Santos organized the company in May 2021, one month before he declared his latest candidacy. A little more than a year later, on July 30, 2022, the financial data company Dun & Bradstreet estimated that Devolder had a revenue of only $43,688.

That estimate, which previously has not been reported, was based on Dun & Bradstreet’s “modeling” and “data science,” the firm said in a statement to The Post. As a privately held company, Devolder does not need to publicly release financial reports.

In any case, on Sept. 6, when Santos filed his financial disclosure report with the clerk of the U.S. House, he said the Devolder Organization had provided him with millions of dollars. Santos reported that the Devolder Organization had paid him an annual salary of $750,000 in 2021 and 2022, and that the company was worth between $1 million and $5 million.

Asked in the radio interview about a report that he had put $700,000 into his campaign, he responded:“That is the money of — that I’ve paid myself through my company, Devolder Organization.”

Candidates are required to file accurate reports of their finances with the clerk of the House. If a candidate knowingly files a form that is false, it could violate a number of laws, according to the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center.

An investigation has been launched into the lies and his false claims which may very well have won him his seat. Whether they ever get to the bottom of it all remains to be seen. Questions are now being asked as to where the money came from and they are valid questions, because it could very well be that he may have been bought. Delving into right wing media, Jim Geraghty raises a valid point:

For all we know, some foreign power may have bought itself a congressman. This isn’t outlandish speculation, as one of his largest donors has ties to the Russian government. The Daily Beast pointed to a February 12 tweet from Santos that reads, “We are going to enter a war in the middle of the Eastern Europe winter against Russia, to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine. Meanwhile this is the sight at the US southern border, where our sovereignty is no longer a priority.”

Shockingly, pathological liars aren’t all that consistent in their foreign-policy beliefs, because ten days later Santos was telling Fox News that President Biden was too weak in standing up to Russia.

Thus far, the GOP have not asked him to resign, nor have they moved to eject him from the party, given the slim majority in Congress.

Well, as he explained on FOX News, whether or not all those are lies are "debatable" so there's no problem.
