Certainly not proof for the “secret”.
I can do a more thorough critique if you are interested but here are a few observations off the top of my head:
1. The effect they are testing for is microscopic. Even presuming a PK effect is evident at this level does not provide for the “manifestation” of macroscopic events, much less hundreds or thousands of macroscopic events needed to affect life situations. In other words, you may be able to affect quantum or near quantum events in a microprocessor but forget about changing the outcome of a flipping coin.
2. The results of the studies aren't very promising. Generally speaking a z value is only considered statistically significant if it is greater than 2. According to the article you referenced only 1 out of the 5 studies showed a significant result. And looking a linked article to that study none of the independent sections showed a significant result. No individual tested was ever able to demonstrate any significant result. Only after combining all the results from all the participants did just one study show any significant deviation from chance.
3. Finally, these studies are all operating under the presumption that PK exists, it is their null hypothesis. From a scientific standpoint the null hypothesis in such studies should be chance or some unknown non-PK variable. Only when other factors have been ruled out should one accept the PK hypothesis. This has not been done. Instead, any deviation is automatically assumed to be caused by PK. This is simply bad science with an agenda.
Psycho-babble invented by people who want to get rich without working.
Moneys going to pour into your bank account because youve aligned yourself with universal wealth frequencies...haha!
Thanks, I thought everyones as dumb as me.
But what about the collective effect of control over microevents for a longer period. Admitted that flipping of coin wont work. But if we set out a goal to be affected in some future time and work towards then may be the final outcome should be in our favor, because each and every moment will be affecting the randoms event on a minute scale, collecting favorably towards our goals.
So the experiment to test The Secret should be in these terms, for longer periods and consisting of many many events leading to the outcome.
I remember yesterday when I was trapped in the middle of a burning building.
I was near panic, my brain racing through all the possible negative outcomes of my predicament.
Then…I remembered your words, oh my beautifully racked bimbo.
I then sat down, collected my thoughts and turned them positive.
I became optimistic and jovial, smiling in the midst of an inferno.
And then….then….as if by magic, I found myself in the middle of a cool meadow by a churning stream.
My positive outlook saved me.
Thank you, my wonderfully fuckable feminine mind.
Word of advice:
When finding yourself in a an ocean of stormy water…..do not just think happy thoughts….move your hands as well.
One more piece of advice:
Pop culture….not a good way of finding empowerment.
The last resort of the dumb and shallow seeking feel-good messages to assuage their needy minds and pretend like the universe gives a shit.
If you don’t do a thing, don’t expect the universe to change by mere thinking happy thu0ghts and praying and groveling and being optimistic and cheery.
No lion will be affected by your smiles and warm embraces.
It’ll toy with you and eat you.
Hey it is true.
Women are intellectually equal to males.
Well, equal to the declining feminized male, anyways
Here’s another secret:
You people are idiots….for the most part.
Several of the experiments (1, 4, and 5) did exactly that where each trial was an attempt to control the outcome of a random walk series of events. The results are the same, within the limits of what one would expect from random deviation.
One could extend the duration of the trials though to test prolonged effort across a longer series of events.
Right now I’m praying for the death of every imbecile on Sciforums….in other words I’m praying for Sciforums to lose its entire membership.
Let’s see if it works.
Dandelion contains chemicals that have diuretic effect, which would account for the reduction of edema (water retention / swelling). Be careful though. There are two significant problems with herbal/natural remedies:
One is that there is no means to control quality or dosage. The batch you use today can vary significantly in the amount of active chemicals that can affect you depending upon a wide variety of factors (cultivation, harvesting, method of preservation, preparation, and manner of ingestion for example).
Two, herbs and natural remedies contain many different chemicals, and while you may attain some of the effects you are looking for other properties may cause problems. You also need to be aware of drug-interactions between the natural remedy you are taking and other drugs or natural remedies.
Aside from nutritive supplementation, pharmaceuticals are generally a better idea. The reason is that in pharmaceuticals the active ingredient has been isolated and the quality and dosage can be controlled for. Pharmaceuticals are also stridently tested for safety and side effects. These things reduce the concerns I mention above.
Inform yourself about what it is you are taking. Natural remedies are constantly marketed as being "safe", relying on general ignorance and erroneous, emotionally driven misapprehension of the pharmaceutical industry and the active mechanism of the supplements in order to sell its products.
The natural health industry markets itself as alternative, anti-corporate, anti-pharmaceutical industry, anti-establishment, and defines itself by that dangerously naive term "natural". In reality it is an unregulated commercial industry with sales in the hundreds of billions. They are indeed marketing geniuses.
Here are some links about dandelion for you:

She is a naturapath as well as a qualified chemist. And she specialises in pregnancy. The herbs she prescribed she mostly grows herself in a hothouse and it is all organic. And it was a one off thing. As soon as the odema went away, I was told to stop taking it immediately and I have. If the problem comes back before I give birth, I need to go and see my doctor again to make sure nothing else is going on before she will even agree to see me again lol... She came highly recommended by my doctors. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And she basically will not take appointments from pregnant women unless they have a recommendation from their doctor, to rule out any other issues that may be the cause of the problem.
She advised me to never buy any herbal teas or remedies from stores because it might not be 'pure' and may have other parts of the same herb or other herbs which could do severe damage. She literally picked the leaves off the herbs while I was there and prepared it all for me then and there. I am well aware of the dangers of natural remedies, especially in pregnancy. But I must admit, even with all my doubting, she was very helpful and highly informative.
You remind me so much of my grandmother. It is disturbing to be honest. I miss her. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

You have joined the dark side my friend.
You are now a lost cause.
I'm glad to hear you are being careful. And it sounds like you're working with someone who is properly educated. All too often I hear of people who take "natural" remedies as if they were intrinsically safe and of practitioners and even doctors who make the most outrageous claims. The only defense for such snake-oil salesmen is to educate yourself and it sounds as if you have. Kudos and congratulations on your impending arrival. Are U scared to do experiments on God ?
think about it, u r helping to prove her existence.
RE. small worlds... it does seem bad (stress unintentional) on a personal part... I'm gonna eternally deviate .
