by the way, the prosecuting party is the House of Representatives and not a party per se
That being said it is not the Democrats that are impeaching Trump and sending the articles to the Senate. It is the House of Reps that is.

the conglomerate of people as a working entity of social conduct policy law & expectations of legal accountability & process.

the processes of legal & government process in how they deal with solving issues.

they demand more power to solve the issue that has had laws written to make sure it is not specifically legally binding an an act of civil criminal law.
THEY WANT the holes in the system because they operate through them most of the time.
THAT is part of the culture & system
then the claim is made "there is no specific law" so give us more power & they wont change the law to make the act illegal
unless in rare circumstances where it is poor common people & base line criminal law that removes more rights from the working class instead of making leadership & the government system more accountable.

they look for loop holes to dodge accountability
look at the bridge-gate as a prime example
they drag it out spending millions of tax payer dollars only to rule its not illegal and then give the power authority a free pass while blaming someone smaller down the food chain.

THAT seems to be the way THEY like it "THEY the people who never seek to change it en mass".
    = culture

    forgone conclusion by basic law
the basic law is void & it is being decided by a group of senators instead of law enforcement agencys

USA Society is a class system run by capitalism
different set of laws for different classes of people
some are exempt from common civil laws.
The Trial that is not a trial is a gathering of opinions of senators whom wish to not do anything to un-seat their own systems or place new laws that will directly effect them
    simple fact

    Question for you
why is the FBI & Home Land Security Not investigating the incident & those involved, specially the touted leaders ?

the prisoner convicted as guilty is deemed to have the mental intellect of a child
so it is like giving a death sentence to a child
    they are effectively intellectually disabled
why is an un-cognoscenti person being given the death sentence ?
they should have been found not guilty by reason of lack of intellectual ability & locked up in a care home for dangerous disabled people for life.

so just like that they wont be changing the laws that create the problems by solving the wider issue of funding universal mental health care

and .. they will be making some type of fake exercise in pretending to deliver a result
i this case a pound of flesh
    of the senate issue
millions in wasted tax payer money that will be denied to children who need life saving medical treatment
all to say its not really something they can charge him with
and still not change the laws to make incitement a crime by a president
AND they will use "free speech" as the sacrificial lamb like the death of the women the disabled person killed, to beat the public with to pretend they are doing their best with all their tax dollars

repeated as its the only question i am asking in return
why is an un-cognoscenti person being given the death sentence different from the deaths of people caused by the rioters who were under instruction & training.
why are their leaders & promoters not being charged with murder & facing the death penalty
equally like the disabled man who has not got the mental awareness of an adult ?

im anti death sentence, i think its barbaric
the usa prison system has been set up to fail deliberately and make profit from while increasing abuse of inmates to make them more violent when they release them
and larger massively long sentences to pretend they are making up for the failed social systems
    lack of mental health care
    lack of unemployment benefits
lack of proper police vetting & training.
better social spending on housing & localized policing.

its all "in house" for the upper class
but its all 3rd party contractors firing guns at them with impunity for the working class.

how is this whole event going to save the lifes of child citizens who have no money to pay for life saving medical treatment ?
its going to deny more money and as a direct event kill off more poor children
    simple economics.
all to make the ruling class look like their jobs are difficult & justified,
while being a big political rally event to under pin that the laws cant be changed
and they really cant do anything anyway so dont bother next time if they are in the ruling class.

I think they pretty much set the tone for how his voters feel.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/nov/10/election-trust-polling-study-republicans

    Oh?

    Uh huh..

Which does not address what I said at all..

    Okay..

Now tell me, who is the Presiding Officer and who are the House Managers? In other words, which party do they belong to?

Bringing forward the articles of impeachment, it was all Democrats. While this has been one of the most bi-partisan impeachments in living memory, those who brought it forward were Democrats and the House Managers 'prosecuting' it, are also Democrats.

Are they correct to do so? Certainly. Trump needs to be impeached for what he has done and it is a safety measure to ensure he can never run for office again if they are successful. Which is unfortunately doubtful.

Now, to suggest that their actions are not political is comical. Whether they are correct or not is beside the point. The entire process is political.

Will they be successful? No. While I believe he should be impeached and convicted, I also believe that the majority of the GOP Senators will not support it - despite a few showing support for this impeachment. So yes, in a lot of ways, this will go down party lines. The final outcome is pre-determined. Why? Because the GOP is Trump's GOP. And their voters support Trump. And yes, the GOP Senators will want to pander to those voters.

Your bias is clouding your judgment.
You have missed the point that Trump was using the same rhetoric as other politicians, which therefore would be protected by article 1.
Add in that the rioters did not attend Trumps rally which was a mile away from where they were gathering at the capitol..
    and...........................................................................
    move on

One thing ---from the trial--- after the 2016 election many prominent democrats were claiming that the election had been rigged

    and
    trial ... run by politicians
    3 presidents have been impeached
    3 presidents were acquitted
(there seems to be a pattern here)

    Not just trump et.al.
representatives, senators, presidents, state government have all ignored the constitution at one time or other
    and that
is why we have a supreme court
For over 200 years: That body has overturned many "laws" that they found to be unconstitutional

    according to nbcnews
The vote means the Senate cannot bar Trump from holding future federal offices.

    I liked McConnell's post-game speech:
He's guilty as sin and twice as vicious, but I have this constitutional mousehole to escape through, here, right here on this page, I'll read it out, see for yourself, here's a magnifying glass.

company's making polls to give expected results
what were the poll results roughly ?

a margin of around 8% lead to Hilary ?
total votes gave Hilary a margin of about 2% ? roughly ?

margin of error is standardized around 3%

question worth asking is how much influence does media have by making people abstain from voting ?

according to the last election is was a key tactic

which is interesting to think on the face of the situation no matter who the republicans put in
    they will vote for them
but the democrat leader has to have the right personality.

republican leaders don't need personality, they just need to stand there in the position & everyone else's will do what they are told & vote for them.

    look @ the tactics
all the republicans had to do was create a question around Hilary's personality & all the black voters stayed home.
regardless of what came out in the media about the other candidate, almost the worse the better.

i guess that begs the question about how racist black voters are.
irony thats they would cut their own nose off to spite their face with supporting the democrats.
but that alt-right black racist concept is still very normalised inside the victim validation system of being validated as the anarchist to the mighty systems of government, and in turn playing the joker patsy for the alt-right republican.
    sad mockery of human values
    but thats life in America
the system has been @ war against black americans for decades
trying to mess with their heads & their cultural self identity.
soo much so they now perpetuate their own racist class systems inside their own culture & call it a right of being black.

    AOC is my fav

horses for coarses & she is the best fit for the job that needs to be done
dragging the usa kicking & screaming into the 22nd century

well balanced social empathy fire brand ideologist putting science 1st
the only way to build that star trek future society

the reality is a lot of Americans don't want that level of social equality
they want that dog eat dog feral world of post apocalypse society trading people, slave markets & blood sports, but to be in the ruling class with lots of weapons & buttons to kill anything they don't like to make themself feel powerful.
what i don't know is if that is hard wired into white Americans as some type of genetic thing.

moral outrage as a self validating victimization valuation to seek power
    versus
    ?
    tyranny ? corruption ? classism !

so its effectively a class war
morals & principals are irrelevant in class wars
so there is no moral middle ground to form a basis of what is legally allowed.

I think that you are wrong here
imho most americans want the opposite
It is the elites who want the rest of us at each other's throats.'
    divide and conquer
If we fall into their partisan trap, we lose and they continue to win.
    ............................
    from feudal days
if the local lord's peasants grew restive, he would round up his bully boys and attack the neighbor lord's peasants.
The neighbor lord would accommodate by rounding up his bully boys and attack the local lord's peasants.
The local lord's peasants would then rush to the local lord begging his protection, giving up much of their freedom and rights in the process.

    It's the same old song
    Nothing changes
especially if you mindlessly dance to their tune

And this is relevant precisely how? I mean, you yourself have rightly pointed out that an impeachment trial is in no way the same thing as criminal trial--Constitutional protections of free speech have precisely jack shit to do with an impeachment hearing, so?

    lol
    McConnell ?

he is putting a bet both ways
not that he will be there much longer @ 78 in the middle of the worlds worst viral pandemic in human history in the country that has the highest level of technology & the worst management of it with the proportional highest death rate

what were all the republican leaders doing all that time half a million Americans were dying ?
sitting on their big fat tax payer working class funded asses
    playing word games

but they all just sit there & no one is pointing at them

    why ?
because donald pointed at the dem leaders & said states were not doing their part ?
virtue signaled them all to shut up & run away & hide
    and they did

    look at Florida
why has that guy still got a job

its all about the class system

they should attach a turbine & he will power the nation

if you mix Archie Bunker & Richie Rich together you get Donald
what republican is NOT going to vote for that ?
no surprises of the white over 50yo male then
cultural identity as symbology to copy in a xenophobic manner is normal iconography for american culture
where you fake it till you can get a chance to steal it

who cant black Americans identify with ?
    rich white women
keeping in mind the lowest class in american class systems is the black lesbians
    it stands to reason
(note i edited this after QQ liked it)

The only real question the Senate had to address was :
    Who was the rioters/mobs leader?
Who was the leader of the "deplorables" that inspired/incited/ordered the attack on the Capital?

but alas it is too late now and the the constitution is a failure because the main provision for impeachment, anti corruption etc is impossible to enforce. ( for all elected government officials and not just the POTUS)
There is no check or balance able to be applied to the POTUS.
