If you don't get mail service with the existing USPS, what was all your bs about "A collection box 30 miles from where you live is not a "service", it is a hardship"?
If you don't have service now, you're not going to be hurt by any change in service. See how that works?
Some places, like Alaska, has many places unreachable except by plane or certain seasons. And? What does any of that have to do with removing underutilized collection boxes from urban areas?

Neither Birx or Fauci claim that all voters will be able to take the same precautions as they do in a grocery store.
And nobody is claiming that the poll workers and election judges in key Democratic districts will be able to take those precautions.

See: everybody knows that the State Republicans will once again force voters in key Democratic Party areas to drive longer distances and stand in longer lines and take bigger risks than ordinary Republican voters - including setups that give Republican voters an easier time voting by mail, and a lower chance of having their ballots rejected as "spoiled".

You refused to acknowledge that post, denying that such behavior by the Trump administration was "doing anything".
    Make up your mind.

Meanwhile, as addressed to Bells your post was a strawman no matter how you take it.

Yes, lets remove underutilized handicap ramps from public buildings. Saves on maintenance, no?

p.s. it is much more efficient to make a mass collection from a public collection box, than it is to stop at every house that has it's flag up to send a birthday card. Remove mass collection boxes and you create a need for individual mail collections at the mailbox. Do you want to wait for your mail to be delivered same day or next week? Budget has nothing to do with it, except to guarantee prompt pick up and delivery. It is a social service which has become the target for capitalist inspired reorganization, i.e. lower quality service for social services programs

    Vociferous or any one else:
Trump has been in office for nearly 4 years. He got into office using the "Make America great again".
Please explain what he has actually achieved in 4 years that has made America Great Again...
For the life of me I can't think of one single thing he has done that has done anything other than make America less than it was.
    4 years of what?

Australia. Don't really know the funding situation Post Office here but think they are allowed to charge extra depending on envelope weight and distance and size

Not to onerous. Also provide services like Express service. Also have become a store selling "As Seen On TV" items. Overpriced items, one level up from everything $10 shops

I can understand why you have an issue with them. They post fact.

You didn't read your own link, did you?

    Your earlier strawman claim:

The Trump administration hasn't done a single thing to stop anyone from voting.

The npr article you linked basically details how Trump and his administration is doing what it can to stop people from voting by mail. Hence why your statement was ridiculous to begin with and basically a troll as you deliberately changed the context and content.. Which doesn't surprise me given that's how you operate.

    Only the Democrats huh?

You sure about that? Because reality doesn't actually support your claims:

In Iowa, the Republican Party mailed absentee ballot applications to voters without waiting for requests. In Pennsylvania, the GOP’s website promotes voting by mail: "Vote Safe: By mail. From home.” And in Ohio, the Republican Party sent mailers with Trump’s photo saying “Join President Trump and Vote by Absentee Ballot.”

Tens of millions of Americans will cast their ballot for president by mail this year — many in Republican-dominated states and swing states where Republican turnout is crucial for Trump — as the coronavirus outbreak keeps Americans at home. And it won’t be the first time. More than 33 million Americans — nearly 1 in 4 — voted by mail in Trump’s election in 2016.

“Vote by mail really works well here in Utah,” said Justin Lee, director of elections in Utah, where the Republican administration sends ballots to every voter in the state. “We do feel it’s safe and secure. We don’t feel there are any real instances of either widespread fraud or voter disenfranchisement.”

And yes, people can vote in person safely. But that isn't really the point here, is it?

Trump is denying a basic service because he's afraid he'll lose the election. Unfortunately for him, many in rural communities who vote by mail, and who tend to vote conservative, will now also be denied the ability to vote because of what he has done. And that's not even counting on or figuring COVID into that equation.

And who created the mail in vote crisis? The Democrats? Or Trump who has gone out of his way to ensure people can't vote? Or are you suggesting the Democrats invented COVID? Because you aren't clear on either of the batshit crazy reasons your statement could apply for and to.

Whether Trump pushes to privatise the USPS is beside the point. He has suddenly declared that it leads to widespread voter fraud without any proof whatsoever.

And privatising the USPS is one of the dumbest things Conservatives could push for. Then again, we are talking about Trump's GOP now.. Dumb is the name of the game.

    Uh huh..

“Go to a voting booth and vote,” Trump said. “Unless you’re an absentee, in which case they have to go through a whole process. In order to vote, they have to go through a very strict process. The equivalent of going to a voting machine, or maybe even sometimes better.”

    [...]

In fact, election officials say states use the same verification/certification process for absentee or mail-in ballots.

    And now the biggest irony..

As we mentioned, Trump voted by mail in Florida in March. Trump called it an “absentee” ballot.

“Absentee is okay,” Trump said in remarks on May 26. “You’re sick. You’re away. As an example, I have to do an absentee because I’m voting in Florida, and I happen to be president. I live in that very beautiful house over there that’s painted white. So that’s okay. And it’s okay for people that are sick and they can’t get up. Something. You know, something.”

Trump’s press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, who has voted by mail in Florida 11 times since 2010, according to the Tampa Bay Times, echoed that line.

“Absentee voting has the word absent in it for a reason. It means you’re absent from the jurisdiction or unable to vote in person,” McEnany wrote in a statement to the Tampa Bay Times. “President Trump is against the Democrat plan to politicize the coronavirus and expand mass mail-in voting without a reason, which has a high propensity for voter fraud. This is a simple distinction that the media fails to grasp.”

    [...]

More important, Florida doesn’t have absentee voting, per se. For decades, it has had vote-by-mail, which is available to any eligible voter in the state. Florida is one of 34 states (plus Washington, D.C.) that have “no excuse” absentee or mail-in voting, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In other words, voters do not need to attest that they will be out of the voting jurisdiction on election day, or that they cannot get to the polls because of an illness or disability. So there is no special process that “absentee” out-of-town voters go through that other mail-in voters do not
    .

So you were saying about a difference?

Or does that only exist if Democrats vote?

And conspiracy? Nah.. No conspiracy there.. Just cold hard cash with a healthy dose of corruption.

The president has acknowledged his opposition to USPS funding support is because he wants to restrict many Americans from voting by mail. He has taken additional steps to achieve his goal.

In June 2020, Trump installed Republican donor Louis DeJoy as US Postmaster General. DeJoy is the chair of the finance committee for the 2020 Republican National Convention, and his wife, Aldona Wos, has been nominated by Trump to be the next US Ambassador to Canada. In addition to donating more than $2 million to Trump since 2016, DeJoy and Wos own stock and assets worth up to $75.3 million with USPS competitors.

In less than two months as postmaster general, DeJoy has banned postal workers from working overtime or making extra trips to deliver mail on time, and removed or reassigned 23 executives in order to centralise power around himself

Is civil war inevitable in Trumps USA?

    No.
The Confederacy already has control of a plurality of the Executive branch, a majority of the Legislative branch including the filibuster, and a large fraction of the Judicial branch- they have much less to gain by war than in decades past.

Actually I would have thought that that makes it even more likely.
Trump has been inciting civil war from the get go and he stands to gain the most from it.
    • Delaying elections ( preparing, attempting to )
    • Destroying credibility of the electoral process. ( Doing )
    • Supporting, condoning radical far right activities (done and doing)
    • Demonizing, intimidating any opposition. (done and doing)
    • Embedding key personal through out governance etc. (done and doing)
    • Capitalizing on presidential legal immunity (done and doing)
    • Discrediting press freedom. Fake news etc.. (done and doing)
    • and so on...
Certainly that is how one could read it from here...
Taking his inspiration straight out of Putin's and Hitler's playbook...so it seems...
In fact the similarities to Putin's fascist methodology is impressive...IMO

As a topical aside on methodology/strategy:
Of course the Russian Government is not involved in the recent poisoning of opposition leaders. That task would fall on key non -government supporter organizations ( oligarchs ) at arms length.
Granting Putin plausible denial...Also it is often incorrectly assumed that a leader has full control over his supporter base, military etc...the reality is that they do not

Having posted the question for a while now, it appears that no one can offer anything that Trump has done that actually makes America Great Again.
Not a single thing... An amazing non-achievement for any leader!!

He has destroyed every enterprise he has been associated with.
He even boasted that he always profited from declaring bankruptcy, closing companies where many workers lost their jobs and income.
His University, a place for "higher learning" was a scam and T was fined 25 MILLION dollars for that little escapade.

Now you're just conflating unrelated things.
You do know that they currently do both, collect from mailboxes as well as collection boxes, right? So when every mailbox is already a collection box, you don't seem to be making any point at all. When they deliver to individual mailboxes they also collect outgoing mail, and it actually saves time and money to do both at the same time. You seem even more ignorant than usual. Have you had your coffee?
Before the natural disaster of Covid, record low unemployment (including for veterans), with historically low minority unemployment (for blacks, Hispanics, and Asians), brokered peace deals between Israel and UAE and between Serbia and Kosovo (with mutual agreements with Israel), new trade agreements with Canada, Mexico, and EU, tax cuts for the average citizen and small businesses, terminal patient right-to-try experimental treatments, etc..

    No, they're well-known for being left-leaning. But I wouldn't expect you to know/realize that.

No, you just don't understand the very simple difference between denying outrageous and partisan emergency funding requests and actively undermining existing services. If you feel trolled, you've trolled yourself.

Maybe you should read more carefully. I said it's "only Democrats who are claiming people must vote by mail", not the only ones providing the option. All states have absentee voting and many have expanded that, especially for those most at risk for Covid.
And yes, the whole point is why spend billions, overwork the USPS, potentially delay election results, and undermine election security and voter confidence.

False. Trump hasn't done a thing to deny existing service.

See above. The Democrats have pushed irrational Covid fears even though experts say in-person voting is safe. So yes, the mail-in voting crisis is their own doing, by any objective measure.

There have been charges of postal voter fraud in the last year, and a judge ordered a NJ town to redo its election over so many disqualified ballots (far more than enough to sway the result), some of which I've detailed here: http://sciforums.com/threads/corona-virus-2019-ncov.162778/page-106#post-3646674

That article is fraught with incomplete and disingenuous arguments. But dumb leftists don't know the difference.

    Cont...

Only some states, and often their absentee voting system is already less secure than others.

The difference is between universal mail-in voting and traditional (including no-excuse) absentee/mail-in voting.

Yes, there are enough cases of voter fraud and disenfranchisement (linked above) that would be significant if a large percentage of voting is done by mail. The President is protecting the voters. And as you said:
"And yes, people can vote in person safely."

No, we're talking about "public services" provided by government, without regard to "cost" which is borne by the public to begin with. "Underuse" is of no importance.
    You think so, huh?
First: The mailman only stops for delivery and/or pick up. They do not automatically stop at every house.
Second: You'd rather add an extra 20 seconds to open the mailbox and collect outgoing mail from say 120 private mailboxes than a single 60 second collection of 120 pieces of mail from a single public collection box. Do the math.
