Yeah, Dead Hand is that stupid. Delegating human extinction level decisions to computers is a stupid decision. The US has never done that. Every decision to take or risk human life is made by a human not a machine. Computers get things wrong, and it is stupid to delegate decisions which could result in the extinction of the Russian state and people is no less than stupid.

Where is your evidence it has had a deterrent effect or would have a deterrent effect if it existed? Russia isn't that important. No one wants it, except perchance China. China would like to snatch up some more Russian territory. But other than that, no one wants Russia.

As has been previously pointed out to you the US could have easily taken Russia several times, but has refused to do so. The US, nor any other Western power, has any interest in invading Russia as long as Russia doesn't first initiate the aggression. Russia just isn't that important.

Seriously comrade? This is what your beloved Putinia doesn't tell you:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_War

Libya's dictator (Ghadafi) blew up an American airliner. Hussein invaded his neighbors and the threatened world oil supply. Ghadafi was a bad guy with a long history of terrorism.

In addition, both dictators were slaughtering their own people. That's a crime. And the US didn't attack Libya alone. Europe feared Ghadahi's slaughter would set off another round of mass immigration.

You know this because we have had this discussion before. Neither Hussein or Ghadafi were nice guys or legitimate rulers. They were dictators. Why is it your beloved Putinia was so chummy with these despicable mass murders?

Something about birds of a feather is apropos here: birds of a feather flock together. It bothers your beloved Putinia when a fellow dictator falls. Does it not?

So, all what is necessary is a claim that some airliner has been shot 1988, to start a war 2011. Or claims about slaughtering the own people. Such claims are already present in anti-Russian propaganda. So, according to your own criteria, the US could, at any time, attack Russia.

So my claim remains valid: What matters is that Russia can and will retaliate. This is the only thing which prevents a US attack on Russia.

That really is the rational thing to do. Shortly after becoming POTUS, the Russians who corroborated Russia's hacks were arrested.

Flynn has been compromised. He has received money from the Russian government for services rendered. And it appears he conspired with the Russian government prior to the election. Can we believe Trump knew nothing of this? One has to wonder, how much did Trump know and when did he know it? Is Trump really that dense and out of touch?

Well, not surprisingly you have ignored a lot. As previously stated, Ghadafi has had a long history terrorism. The American airliner was blown up. It wasn't "shot down". Both Saddam and Ghadafi have a long history of murdering their own people. And the US did not act alone against them. You know this because it has been told to you many times, and you continue to ignore it.

Is that your claim? Russia can do whatever it wants. The world will and has responded, and it will continue to respond to Russia's aggression.

You keep ignoring reality comrade. If Russia wants to incinerate itself, so be it. Just because it has some nuclear weapons, those weapons aren't a carte blanche. Your beloved Mother Russia, i.e. Putinia, cannot do whatever it wants without repercussions.

As has been repeatedly pointed out to you if the US wanted to invade Russia, it could have done so long ago and many times over the years. But it didn't. The US was a nuclear power before Russia, and for at least a century the US military has been much stronger than Russsia's military. The US could have attacked Russia after WW II when the US was the sole nuclear power. It didn't. It could have attacked during the confusion and disarray after the collapse of the Soviet Union and anytime in between but it didn't. Because no one wants your beloved Mother Russia.

If the US wants Russia it will have it nuclear weapons or no. Russia is a state of decline. It's becoming weaker by the day. The US doesn't need nor want Russia. All the US need do to punish Russia is to cut it off as it has done. Russia is whithering away under international sanctions. The US doesn't need to attack Russia with it's military. It can just cut it off economically and watch it whither as it has done.

Of course I ignore this, why should I care? I'm not a fan of Ghadafi or Saddam.
Indeed, Russia can do what it wants. Because it can retaliate, if the US attacks it. And because it does not depend on anything from the US, so that it can give a .... on US sanctions.
I know you believe this. I think it is wrong, there has been always strong enough military reasons not to attack. Ok, at best there was a small window of opportunity 1945-49, where they were the only state having nuclear weapons. But so what? If they didn't, this was quite obviously not because they were such a peaceful nation, but because they did not expect that this window of opportunity will close after such a short time.
That's already complete nonsense. The Soviet/Russian nuclear forces were ready for use all the time, and the US would have received a retaliation. And, again, even if there would have been such a window of opportunity - it was not used because of the nice peaceful character of the US, which had no problem to attack Serbia as well as Afghanistan and Iraq, but because they thought that Russia is out of the game for a long time, maybe forever, because everybody expected that Russia will fall into parts too. But Russia came back.

Saddam and Ghadafi played chicken and lost. All players were playing with fake news, ultimately all players lost. Whether it was fake news or not is irrelevant. When the world sets up a situation of such distrust , every one is a loser.

Yes, why should you care about facts? You never have. So why start now?

If you are not a fan of Ghadafi or Saddam then why do you keep representing them to be innocent victims of American aggression? You can't have it both ways comrade.

And Russia, i.e. Putinia, will continue to bear the repercussions of its actions. If the US attacks your beloved Mother Russia will be on the wrong end of the stick. And has been repeatedly pointed out to you, the US doesn't need to militarily attack Russia to damage Russia. The US and allied nations have already inflicted a lot of damage on your beloved Mother Russia without firing a single weapon. And the US has the ability to inflict even more economic damage.

I believe this because it is fact. You believe it is wrong, but then you admit that it is correct. Comrade....seriously?

It's not nonsense. If the US wanted Russia, it would have it. But it doesn't. The US doesn't want a basket case. No country in the West wants to take on a Russian basket case.

    Further and extended
    Schmelzer
    Why?
Because Russia is dependent on the good will and "grace " of the world just like every other country is ( including the Trump nightmare)
Shit in peoples face and they simply stop trading with you. There is no obligation to sell anything to Russia. ( or to Trump for that matter )

Sanctions are only a result of nations deciding to with draw trading relationships because to continue to do so is contrary to their own interests. Russia's perceived** aggression in the Ukraine, Crimea and elsewhere, including drug enhancement use in sport and other cheating methods, means that countries see that Russia is not reciprocating the good will or grace that it feels it is itself entitled to. There is no entitlement or right to trade...or compete in sport.

The fact is Co-dependency exists whether we like it or not...

If Putin came to my home and asked to come in I would refuse... if only because he incorrectly believes he is entitled entry which he is not.

** it doesn't matter how the perception is gained , whether propaganda, fake news or other...
The fact is that the perception is there....and the results speak for themselves.

    Why what?

The US has more ability to inflict damage on Russia by ratcheting up the trade sanctions and cutting off its access to capital markets. My point was the US doesn't need to invade or militarily attack Russia to cause damage to Russia.

So Comrade Schmeltzer can brag about his nuclear weapons and threaten others all day long. It won't stop the US and others from inflicting damage to Mother Russia. Russia, i.e. Putinia, can do what it/he wants, but it will also pay a price for those actions if they violate international law.

it is something Schmelzer fails to understand.... and blames propaganda and fake news and all the lies and deceptions etc for it....

Fact is propaganda and fake news does indeed have a very heavy price. Putin knows it and is an expert at propagating it. So he wears it...and so too do the Russian population.

Certainly Saddam and Ghadafi found out the cost of playing chicken and it's the women and children left behind that suffer the most as a consequence.

    Further,
The West actually wants Russia to be successful in becoming a quality world citizen and is bending over backwards in attempting to facilitate such...but then Putin displays his aggressive side and well the rest is a consequence.

Russia is probably the most independent country on Earth today. It has almost all natural resources one can wish of, with oil and own atomic power it has enough energy, produces enough food, and produces enough weapons to defend all this. Its currency reserves are sufficient to pay all credits. Import and export are quite small in relation to its GDP. So, even in the worst case, if really the whole world would stop completely any trade, Russia would not collapse.

And because it is independent, it can do and does what it likes, without caring about the US. That this leads to US sanctions, so be it. Russia does not care.

I don't. I have simply asked a question, with the aim to receive the answer I have received.

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

You have been played, and you have not even got it.
Some damage, ok. You know, Russia is having some trade with the West not because it is obliged, but because this gives some advantage, so if this stops completely, this advantage will be lost, without doubt some damage. But not really worth to care about. I have seen some CIA estimate that the sanctions - not only US, but EU sanctions too - have given an effect of 1% GDP. Who cares? 1% GDP in exchange for Crimea and helping their brothers in Donbass is essentially for free.

Access to capital markets does not matter anymore. This card has been played and failed. The result is that Russia has heavily reduced its credit burden, which will lead to improvements in the future. Even complete US trade sanctions alone would not even give another 1%.

Why you think that Putin believes such nonsense? No, Putin does not come and ask you, or the whole US, about anything. If Trump stops this stupid Cold War II started by Obama, fine, if not, so what, such is life.

I have not yet seen a single serious Russian analytic who expects a lot from Trump. Its fine that he has won, there is not much disagreement about this. (But even here are some exceptions, people who think Clinton would have been better - because this would have been more of the same stupid policy harming the US in the long run, while Trump may have the potential to do something which really makes, after the Big Depression which is anyway expected, make America strong again.)

But nobody has any idea about what Trump could really offer to Putin to get something in exchange. All they see are things Trump could probably do, which would be nice for Russia, but nothing good enough to get anything in return. Russia will continue the strategic Eurasian cooperation, as with China, as with Iran. No chance here. Crimea? No chance at all. Donbass? No chance.

What can Trump offer? Stop the support of the Ukrainian Bandera fascists? This would be a good idea for the US. But if you want to throw away US taxpayers money, feel free to do so. Stop the support of the child head cutters in Syria? Good idea. This allows Trump to become part of the coalition which wins in Syria against Daesh. But if you don't want, so what, that coalition was winning in Syria even under Obama, it will continue to win anyway. Stop future color revolution and regime change attempts? Very good idea. But if you don't want to - Russians, Chinese and Iranians have already learned how to survive them.

Sorry, but you can accuse Saddam of playing chicken in the first war, attacking Kuweit. Or Ghadafi in the 80's. But at the time the US attacked them there was nothing which has justified the attack. Ghadafi simply defended himself against US-paid terrorists.
LOL. Russia is quite successful in becoming a quality world citizen. You can observe this in Eurasia. The relations with China and Iran have heavily improved during the last years, and this is what really matters.

What are your thoughts about the banning of Russian athletes at the Rio Olympic games?
    Was the ban justified ?
Was Russia innocent and the case propaganda?
Why does Russia have to cheat to be successful?

Trump and Putin are both being smart. The biggest world threat is connected to ISIS and the Muslim Extremists. This is a real threat that has a negative impact on civilians, while creating an instability that impacts both the US and Russia. The cat and mouse between Russia is the USA, is more like military games and not as serious. It is very rare if anyone even gets hurts, playing cat and mouse, never mind being beheaded.

If the US and Russia worked together, to deal with the Extremists, it is cheaper for both countries and it will help solve a real mutual problem, quicker. It makes no sense for the US and Russia to undermine each others efforts, like has been done in the past. Obama and Hillary took a different side from Russian and it ally Syria, resulting in large numbers of human death and refugees, at a huge expense to Europe. That is old school cold war thinking. However, it is a total waste of resources. Had this been done in a way that benefits both Russia and USA, Syria may have remained stable and millions of people would be alive at home. This is not to say that once the middle east is settled, cat and mouse will not begin again. Military likes cat and mouse for practicing and justifying new line items for both countries.

I believe Putin likes Trump because Trump is outspoke and not a two face. If you have to deal with two faced people, who smile to your face, while planning to stab you in the back, you need to be more on guard, since nothing is what it appears to be. Trump, like him or not, is easy to read. He does not make promises he will not keep, even if the left is having a temper tantrum. Trump is, nevertheless, good at negotiating. Negotiating is not the same as deception using two faces. A good negotiation can benefit all the parties. Trump like Putin, are both outsiders in terms of being professional politicians. They are men of action who can relate.

Trump has one wild card in his favor, with respect to Russia. Russia is run by a small group of very powerful business people; oligarchy. Putin is more like the chief operating officer; COO, of Russia, with these billionaires sort of likes members of the board. Trump is a unique leader, since he is part of the world of board members, being a successful builder and billionaire. The Russian power brokers, like the idea of one of their own kind; board member; being a COO in America. They all think in terms of economic prosperity which benefits all. In Russia, a strong Russian economy will mean better skim for them. Trump understands this and can use this to negotiate.

Not a two face... such as promising to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US, knowing full well that it is impossible? Or promising to "drain the swamp" and give the power back to the people, then filling his cabinet with multi-millionaires (in fact, the highest overall wealth in a cabinet in US history, even adjusted for inflation et al). Or perhaps promising to "build a wall and make Mexico pay for it", then saying we will pay for it and have Mexico reimburse us for it (which it will likely never do). Or perhaps his statements in support of LGBT rights when campaigning, then turning around and starting to dismantle some of their protections the moment he takes office?

You are right... Trump isn't two faced at all. At this point, he's got one face - that of a liar and a phony who is in waaaay over his head.
