    Universal Consciousness...How, What, Where, Why...
Too display duality without actually dividing?
Can anyone here help me out.

Well, we are all one consciousness, but we have the illusion of being divided because we emphasize the ego.

By meditation, realisation or whatever, you can feel the wholeness again.

But aren't YOU the guy who can use ki fireballs and such? I thought you first had to be pretty sure of your place in the univers before pulling something like that.

Wow read my threads carefully I never said that. I am starting traditonal Shaolin and appenently my teach knows how but I am not queit sure about that yet.

Too display duality without actually dividing? I thing that is the essential menaing of universal consiousness. We are all connected to everything I would agree with that, but it's like drops of water in an ocean. Can you have the ocean with out the droplets? Is each droplet in the ocean the same?

But I guess that wasn't my issue. Any litteral understanding of "universal consiousness" would be pointless. If its the ultimate truth it must be experienced. Just ranting but I fix my conflictions of understnading the concept thanx.

There are several interesting ideas about this.

    Evolving god:
There is a god, but it is basically the spirit of the universe. As the universe evolves, so does god. The more advanced the universe and its lifeforms, the more advanced god is.

    Universal mind/spirit:
We are all part of it. When we die, our essence becomes once more part of this. Living in this corporeal form is basically the eternal juice swirling into little crusty bits in the soup.

Man, I'm way too drunk for this...

In my opinion, trying to explain Universal Consciousness is a lot
like trying to explain Tao. As I quoted before, "You cannot write
    down a meaningful silence."

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is mother of ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one can see the manifestations.
    These two spring from the same source but differ in name;
    this appears as darkness.
    Darkness within darkness.
    The gate to all mystery.

spirit or no spirit, i will never give up my individuality!
"increased awareness", "heightened empathy"...... does not mean one loses their individuality.

Universal Consciousness is a trick to control you. they probably charge for membership.

I have considered that as well. Even if we are all part of the same thing that does not invalidate the individual. With out individuales to compose the whole there in no whole. There could be know society with out its people. Perhaps it is just a shared colection of consiousness. Meaning for once we might be able to comunicate that deep esence of ourselves to another. They way I look at it, it would just be to finally know you are not alone in existance.

Empty Dragon, I did not say that you were the model for Ken and Ryu in Street Fighter, but you did say that you felt something between your hands for a short moment.

    That's further as I got

Of which I become less and less proud as I grow older.

    *uhum* sidetracking here.

Things said in the Seth Material seem quite reasonable to me.

Drops in the ocean? Yes, if we look at the ocean and imagine tiny little parts of it having the idea that they are a separate entity. Then I agree.

I also agree with the first verse of the Tao Te King, but hey, isn't thinking and talking about it fun?

I am willing to consider everything, as long as now blown up ego's get involved.

If a buddhist monk or an enlightened being would read your posts about individuality, he would laugh. *drop in the ocean to another drop, all frightened: "I will not lose my individuality!.....I won't* *Sea waves on, smiling*

    A4Ever,

Yes, it is fun to think and talk about it. However, sometimes there are
no words to express certain things imo. Like butterflies that flit away
when you try and capture them in a net, some of my thoughts scurry
away when I try to capture them with words.

The nature of spoken language is strange. It lets us express things we could never express otherwise, yet it is frighteningly limiting, because all we can do is use predefined material to say what we think or feel.

It's like lego blocks. When you're building something, you can sometimes think how nice it would be to have a block with such or such shape. Same thing with Tetris.

The combination of words gives us endless possibilities of expression, but in no way do they enable us to say everything that's inside us or what we experience.

Sometimes, when someone asks me how I'm doing, I feel the urge to say "7".

There are other means to express things that normal sentences can not. Wittgenstein said that we should shut up about that which we can't speak about. Later he said there was more to life than that what could be said.

I think about poetry (although to often I try to grasp it with my intellect) and music.

When looking at a beautiful landscape, a flower or a painting, feelings you can't describe can enter your heart. The only thing you can do is try to communicate those feelings through your eyes and smile. Seeing that smile in others will assure you that they feel it to.

When there's no one around, you can just be grateful to be alive.

Point well taken. The truth is the truth no matter what it is or means.

It may every well be ego to say that drops each drop is different.
I rather view it like the cells that make your body. They are all united to make the whole. But a lung is a combination of cells. And the body is the combination of the organs. I would see the the idea of oneness being allong those lines. But that is the physical matter of the universe, though in the end if matter is the "great play" or deception then what is consiousness. Are we from the same consiousness? Our are the building blocks the same? Or that all consiousness in connected to each other and to forgo ego ist to rejoin the whole and become part of "god"? Kind of like a pool of consiousness.

I know it sound cliché but kind of like The "Changelings in Star Trek Deep space Nine".

On the Ki ball thing. I can focus a feeling identify as Ki in my hands. But i cannot tell if it is a figment of my imagenation or a genuine sensation. I guess the only test would be attempting ot train it to a point where it can be tested. (Ei: Knock a can over or something like that) But untill then I don't know.

The tao that can be talked about is not the eternal tao.

Still it is fun to talk about I agree. In the end it acomplishes nothing. The only way to comprehend is direct experience.

    Accomplishing No-thing

"More and more, I have come to realize how thoughts and concepts are all that block us from always being...in the absolute... When the view is there, thoughts are seen for what they truly are: fleeting and transparent, and only relative... You do not cling to thoughts and emotions or reject them, but welcome them all within the vast embrace of Rigpa." -Sogyal Rinpoche

There is also the possibility that there is only one experiencer, and it's taking turns. You've been, or will be me. And I have been or will be you. We are all one consciousness going back and forth in time trying out other egos. Maybe this is karma? If I hurt you, eventually I will be you and feel the hurt...

A universal consciousness? Are we all required to be partakers, even if we do not wish it? What is there even to suggest it? I would rather not be part of one with many other individuals. I will not mention individual names.

    By Kabir

Oh Companion That Abode Is Unmatched,
    Where My Complete Beloved Is.

In that Place There Is No Happiness or Unhappiness,
    No Truth or Untruth
    Neither Sin Nor Virtue.
There Is No Day or Night, No Moon or Sun,
    There Is Radiance Without Light.

There Is No Knowledge or Meditation
No Repetition of Mantra or Austerities,
Neither Speech Coming From Vedas or Books.
    Doing, Not-Doing, Holding, Leaving
All These Are All Lost Too In This Place.

No Home, No Homeless, Neither Outside or Inside,
    Micro and Macrocosm Are Non-Existent.
Five Elemental Constituents and the Trinity Are Both Not There
Witnessing Un-struck Shabad Sound is Also Not There.

No Root or Flower, Neither Branch or Seed,
Without a Tree Fruits are Adorning,
    Primordial Om Sound, Breath-Synchronized Soham,
This and That - All Are Absent, The Breath Too Unknown

Where the Beloved Is There is Utterly Nothing
Says Kabir I Have Come To Realize.
    Whoever Sees My Indicative Sign
Will Accomplish the Goal of Liberation.
