Thank you, I didn't think they would actually say that one with all of the pedophiles they have amonst themselves. Wonder why the Vatican never punishes the Priests that are caught molesting children then??
They only move the offending criminal Priests to another town who don't know what they did before, that's hypocracy if I've ever seen it!

That's the Catholic mindset you - protecting the greater (by their scale) ideals by sacrificing the smaller ones.
But it can't work, it's like building a house with no foundation,
so the church is crumbling, and it has been for decades.

What is wrong with having a lot of money? Just because Jesus was poor doesn't mean we should all have to choose to be poor too or does it?

It's wrong, because so many people don't have enough money.
You should donate it to environment saving, health, research, humanitarian help or other funds, help your local people directly, etc.

But even if I did donate it to many different people and many different programs. I would still have sinned by having so much money in the first place, like if it was an inheritance or something. Not that I have any money, people should consider donating to me.

    No, I don't think so.
Besides, to my understanding, nobody there says you have to be poor, that's bs, it's regarding those people who buy diamonds and jewels in the afternoon and a new Porsche in the evening.

That was just idiotic. A 5 year old would probably take less of a black and white view of the world.

How is it a deadly sin to take narcotics? That's just obscene. I don't like them myself, but calling it a deadly sin? It's hardly up there with, say, murder or rape. So if a curious, impressionable 13 year old smokes dope to see what it does to them, they've committed a deadly sin???!!!!!

Stupid fucking Vatican. It's about as politically relevant as my anus.

I have to admire the Catholics to some extent, they seem more adaptable than most religions. They repealed the concept of purgatory, they acknowledge evolution. Granted, they still have a long way to go, but they work slowly.

All right! Lust isn't a mortal sin anymore! Now I can lust... about the same amount as I did before, because I'm not Catholic.

Y'know, I always thought that they were called the Deadly Sins, not because they were somehow worse than more pedestrian sins like Murder and Coveting, but because they were the ones that were more likely to get you.

I mean, Murder? Because someone cut you off on the highway? Nah. But Anger, sure, easy. Adultery? A bit of a stretch for most people, but Lust? All the way, Lust never hurt anybody, it's just a thought.

Sloth? The ultimate sin of omission, not doing anything. Why are these deadly sins? Not because they're big bad sins, but precisely the opposite - small, easy, garden variety sins. Sins that you don't even feel sorry about, which - if I understand correctly - is what gets you with the Catholics. 'Cause you have to be sorry to be absolved, right? It's gotta be sincere. Picture, if you will, judgement day.

God: You killed that bunny... that was bunny murder.
You: I know! It was horrible and I've regretted it for my entire life. I never hurt a bunny after that, not for eighty-seven years.
The Big Guy: Now, for the matter of you being angry at Roger for calling you a noodlebrain.
You: What? I can't get angry because of that?
    Capital G: Nuh-uh, not unless you're sorry.
    You: But that's totally-

Poof! You burn up in the lake of fire. Why? Because of the bunny murder? No, because Anger is a sin, but you can't be contrite for something that probably doesn't feel wrong.

Of course, this makes for a rather Orwellian reading of Catholicism, where not only can you be condemned to everlasting death for thought-crimes, but you're probably also in the position where you can't even remember all the instances of a sin you're supposed to ask forgiveness for. How many times have you lusted in your life?

By the way - polluting? Genetic engineering? Why not add "mortgage foreclosure" to that list, or "pornographic funny animal cartoons"? This is a pretty haphazard list.

I mean i have been invovled in a clinical trial on CPR and which is the best ratio to do, the ambos have another trial on wether difibing a pt who has been down for a long time straight away or doing CPR for a while first is the better course of action. There is another trial about CO2 and fribile convolsions going on in one of the childrens hospitals.
