I was speaking at a confrence the other day, talking about the effects of war on refugees and vet's from
the military and how it affected their ability to function in ordinary life afterwards, making a working
    productive life quite a challenge.

Now... what i found from the questions i got, disturbed me quite alot.

one person actually asked with the beginning line: "Now just becourse a vet saw someone die by beheading..."
"..ive seen that on TV, so what i dont run around using that as an excuse."...

It baffeld me, and i found my self thinking about this, a song i made some years ago
(not needed to watch for the subject, just think it describe my mood atm.)

So have people lost their understanding, that what happens in the TV is REAL sometimes?
Movie or reality people dont differ anymore?

I look at my own children, and wounder... how do u ensure the survival of empathy in a world that portrays more violence, death and destruction than imagineble just a few years ago.

That's one of the main drivers of gruesome entertainment: to desensitize the audience. They see on average three graphic torture scenes a week in prime time - so, what's a little water-boarding in comparison? They see, on average, two fire-bombings and an air-attack - so what's another burning town in some country they can't find on the map?
It used to be a real challenge to get soldiers actually shooting at a live target. Now, the video games and TV shows prime young people to any kind of brutality. Too bad if some of them do it for fun in their own neighbourhoods; too bad if some of them are sickened by the reality - that's minor collateral damage.

    desensitization
Does it really work if one vicariously sees violence on tv, then doesn't mind the real thing?
Our bureau of propaganda certainly seems to think so.

I'd say that we see others get into problems like with ISIS nowadays but we don't see much of what is happening to ISIS when the bombers take out thousands of them over the years. So why does our media only show one side of the coin?

    Simple.
It ain't an independent media/news entity. It is now and usually has been an arm of the propaganda machine.

Problem is there's little that can be done to change the way things are going.

Would that it were so. But, alas, nobody's perfect.

I'm a non-transgressive pacifist who believes this to be law to omnipotency because he is utterly able. Man must be passive only to a certain point because of limited capabillities, but God must do absolutely no harm. I see past hate and sorrow with understanding and belief. If your passive to dis-belief and death they will go to naught, and hatred will have no reason and passive will send him to naught. Hate is what the devil thinks up as his purpose, but it's not true because you can just trascend death.

    Oh, kx000 doesn't do points.
He just posts because that way he's not biting his nails any more.
Don't ever expect a point, or rationality, or coherency from him.
