I noticed a bright star over the Western horizon and am wondering whether it is Venus. Does anyone know?

Thank you. It is times like that I wish I had a telescope and the knowledge to properly use it

Actually it's been a far more interesting time in the East in the mornings around 0500hrs/0600hrs, are Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and Mercury....A week or so ago, they were all rising and near the Moon, which was quite spectacular.

I'm thinking that something like a 60 power telescope could enable you to see the roundness of Venus.

I don't know what it looks like at the moment but it will display a crescent just like our Moon which is neat.
