We apologize for inventing computers and the Internet, neither of which you use very much, but when you do use them it’s mostly to bash our race. We apologize for building factories and businesses that employ you, if you so desire to work. We apologize for creating millions of bureaucratic jobs within our government system simply to give you employment, instead of leaving you to find work on your own. We apologize for placing you in our movies and TV shows and elevating you to a fictional, heroic level that you have never reached in real life. We apologize for giving you welfare and food stamps, with the result that for four generations over half of your race has not had to work, except in makeshift type of jobs in our governments and bureaucracies. We apologize for promoting your children in school as if they could understand basic arithmetic and grammar, such as multiplication and past participles, when we should have made sure they were accustomed to manual labor so that we would not have had to make up jobs for them in our governments dusting seats with their butts. We apologize for developing farms in our own lands which you have never been able to do, and that to this day feed most of your race still living in Africa. We apologize for coming to Africa and building farms, from which you have now run us off of and have devastated beyond use, forcing us to continue feeding you. I'm orange. My point was rather simple minded, in that race really makes squat difference in bad behavior. Even some slave owners were probably great people who took excellent care of their "employees", granting them freedoms similar to what most "free" people had. Probably pretty rare though. That's right, no one is saying that whites are evil and blacks are good. The fact that some blacks had slaves means that they were just as capable of participating in the major industry of the region, which in those days meant owning your work force. Racism developed, I think, to solidify white domination over industry after slaves were freed. The reason was almost purely economic.
The civil rights movement of the 1960's have left many people with the belief that the slave trade was exclusively a European/American phenomenon and only evil white people were to blame for it. This is a simplicistic scenario that hardly reflects the facts. Thousands of records of transactions are available on a CDROM prepared by Harvard University and several books have been published recently on the origins of modern slavery (namely, Hugh Thomas' The Slave Trade and Robin Blackburn's The Making Of New World Slavery). What these records show is that the modern slave trade flourished in the early middle ages, as early as 869, especially between Muslim traders and western African kingdoms. For moralists, the most important aspect of that trade should be that Muslims were selling goods to the African kingdoms and the African kingdoms were paying with their own people. In many instances, no violence was necessary to obtain those slaves. Contrary to legends and novels and Hollywood movies, the white traders did not need to savagely kill entire tribes in order to exact their tribute in slaves. All they needed to do is bring goods that appealed to the kings of those tribes. The kings would gladly sell their own kins. This explains why slavery became "black". Ancient slavery, e.g. under the Roman empire, would not discriminate: slaves were both white and black (so were Emperors and Popes). In the middle ages, all European countries outlawed slavery (of course, they retained countless "civilized" ways to enslave their citizens, but that's another story), whereas the African kingdoms happily continued in their trade. Therefore, only colored people could be slaves, and that is how the stereotype for African-american slavery was born. What you ignorantly refuse to understand is that the modern slave trade with over 12 million people exported to the new world was unprecedented in scale. In ancient times, slaves were a luxury item for ones personal use, they were not used to replace the labor force, and only the rich could afford them. However, when it became clear that the only way to get rich off of the labor intensive crop of sugar cane was to import massive numbers of slaves, a new kind of slavery emerged.

I think my greatest achivement has been to provide for and help raise five beautiful children all while being married to my lovely wife. This is a achivement that over 70% of ALL African American men in the U.S are unable to accomplish.
