It can be argued that God would declare, "Be honorable." This is overtly obvious and you don't need to be a Prophet to know this. From this statement there can be generated an infinity of similar statements, such as 'Be honorable to your neighbor two doors down', 'Be honorable to your neighbor three doors down', Be honorable to your neighbors on other continents' and 'Be honorable to your neighbors who live on islands that are not large enough to be considered a continent'. It's customary to start a thread with more than a statement and I think God would agree with me.

There is a thing called honor killings, so I wouldn't hold honor up as a universal good.

    That's pretty meaningless.

What God DID say (He even wrote it down) was, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Of course, we could have figured that out for ourselves anyway.

All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to be passive.

-Why can it be argued? Why is it obvious?

EWS asks questions that are on-point. They have called out the fallacy of forgone conclusion.

1] It is disingenuous to suggest something is obvious. If it were, this thread would not need to have been started. Nor would there need to be any discussion about it.
2] "It could be argued" - so do so.

I suggest you are refusing to dignify the questions because they challenge your premise.

    So defend them.

    • Please refrain from preaching - if you are here for discussion, then it is advised you answer questions when they are posed to you, rather than handwaving them away.
DaveC, you actually, literally dare to claim that God does not tell us to, 'Be honorable.' You stoop to filth. What is not obvious in all Eternity about the fact that God commands us to, 'Be honorable'? From that foundation I will argue and debate about billions and trillions of premises, but they are all founded on the premise of Be Honorable. Get a life. Starting from that commandment one can build an infinity of truthful statement. I'm busy building an infinity of such statements. I'm not wasting my time questioning such an obvious and rightfully good obvious fact. DE

    Don't be ridiculous.
There's no evidence that "god" exists let alone that "he's" told us anything.

For it to be "obvious" you'd first have to establish that "god" exists. And then that he's spoken to anyone.

Then. obviously, you don't know what a fact is.

    Okey, lets start again.
For the sake of the argument let the first premise be that there is God, what God, for the clarity (and because of my conviction) lets choose God of Christianity, fair enough?

How does "thou shall not kill" apply in your premise? You cant kill in any circumstances and be honorable?

I think it all boils down to morality, moral laws, yes? Now the next question is why is there moral law, or is there?

No. You actually, literally dare to claim you know what God does tell us.

EWS (and now I) have simply called you out on your naivete.

Because, as others have pointed out, "honour" is ambiguous, subjective and often self-serving (see SpiderGoat's post 4).

Then why start this thread at all? Unless you're just preaching. You could have said that at the beginning; it would have saved a lot of peoples' time.

Indeed. It seems kind of the height of hypocrisy to lead off with "it can be argued that x", then follow up with "x is a fact and you are filth for suggesting otherwise".

DE: no one here is attacking you without warrant. You've introduced a premise, inviting discussion. Then, when you get discussion, you respond like a mama raccoon thinking her babies are being killed.

The more you struggle the more difficult a chinese finger trap gets. It may seem crazy and dangerous, but if your just passive towards the trap it will release your soul. (The finger trap being a metaphor for life)

Funny thing is that this one open up whole lot of filosofical can of worms...

Example, for God is customory to start a thread what ever way God prefer, and declare to be it so, yes? So, is davidelkins a God?
If you ask for a new age people or satanists and suchs, that is the case, you are your own god, defining good and evil, and so on what is honorable or not.
