I do hope that Kim has made personal preparations for his imminent death... because looking at all the evidence suggests that that is where he is headed along with many others. It could all happen very soon and with out notice...

Fear mongering comes at a cost....

Oh no I doubt this is going to become a full out war, the North Korean don't want that, they know they would be crushed, but then again Trump is a fucking pig boar so anything is possible.

I still hold to my comment even with out a full scale war scenario Kim and his command are most likely dead men walking.
The rational that Trump would use would be simple enough...
Us ( USA and allies) OR them....
    no brainer actually

The successful miniaturization of nukes means many things, from tactical, to terrorism, to suitcase dirty bombs to you name it...If they have indeed miniaturized, the anti has just gone up exponentially... it also clearly demonstrates that the NK science teams are extremely adept and innovative...and fast..... and who knows where they may be at within as little as 30 days from now...
Compare : Nazi Germany nuke/missile program <=> N. Koreas nuke'/missile program and then recall the worlds reaction.

Why, do you think, the North Koreans hate us so much?
    or
    Is that just a ruse?

North Koreans don't hate , just the leader does .

An example of ego gone wild , in order to defend his honour .

As in any example of honour to the extreme , those around him , will die .

It is really about paranoia. Global hysteria. It is about how the USA is terrified of the threat it created with the birth of the nuclear age. The USA knows only too well what happens when a nuke goes off. Having picked up the pieces left after Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
You only have to look at the USA constitution. The right to bear arms and how aggressively that right is protected and how powerful the gun lobby is to gauge the degree of fear inherent in USA society.

So a small despot sub-nation like NK is terrified that the military might they see over the border will be used against them. People do not like living in fear and one of the reactions is to find a way to conquer it. In this case NKs nuke program placates the sense of powerlessness that the USA is invoking.

The NK are paranoid, many crimes against humanity waiting to be tried in the Hague, many secrets yet to be revealed and would be revealed after invasion. They have their backs against the wall and are doing what the human animals does best when cornered and dis empowered....they bluff to buy time so that they can turn the bluff into a real threat.
Well according to reports that bluff is no longer simply that. They have a capacity and the will that now places them in the suicidal bomber category. Something so small can do so much damage any where at any time...

So the USA strategic command are no doubt looking at all this and attempting to work out when and not if, intervention is going to have to be necessary.

Like a police tactical response unit responding to a hostage situation...waiting for the perp to be off guard or fall asleep or make one silly move that threatens the hostages.

    Fear mongering has a cost.
I believe it is this issue of playing with peoples fear that needs to be addressed. The USA has inherently been playing this game for a long time due to it's military capacity. NK is only doing to the USA what the USA has been doing to the NK's. and that is demonstrating a capacity, a will to use and only needing motivation to activate.

Trump is an expert at playing on peoples fears...

Miniaturization of nukes could very well be the motivation that forces the USA into activation.

They are still in a war with us, and have been taught to hate the enemy for 3 generations now.
Not really anything different than North Korea always does.

Until this threat is manifested into a real manifested threat , physical threat as in missiles launched , lets just calm down.

Besides the US military satellites will long before the launch by NK missiles will find them.

Trump painted himself into a corner. Not surprising since he's an impulsive reckless idiot.

He escalated things without a way to back down that doesn't make him look like the blustering fool he is.

And then what? We won't know whether it's a test or what the target is.

Trump said he'd respond to more North Korean threats on the US with "fire and fury" unlike the world had ever seen!!!
So of course North Korea responded, saying it was considering a missile strike on Guam.

Boy, Trump sure put the fear god into them - what a putz...

Normally the simple fact that it is in the air would be enough I would have thought... after all what's a ICBM for? ( or any missile for that matter)

OK, yes, after it's already in the air you could tell about where it's going. But River said "long before the launch".

Kim is playing a game that was old before feudal times.

Feudal: When the peasants became restive, the local lord would gather his bully-boys and attack the neighboring lord's peasants.
The neighboring lord would then retaliate by gathering his bully-boys and attacking the local lord's peasants, who would then go to the local lord for protection and be willing to give up some of their freedoms in the process.

    Kim threatens the USA
    Trump threatens NK
    Kim threatens Guam
    .............................
don't forget to tune in next week for the exciting continuation of the series
(and, buy some goddamned soap already-------------fill in the blank)

Certainly, making blatant threats to NK helps Kim domestically. Which is why Obama didn't do it.
