    I'm serious!
What was his view on Darwins theory of evolution?

Hm, I couldn't find a direct quote or reference from him about evolution. Seems to me he didn't address the notion in his lifetime, otherwise it would be easy to find his thoughts on it...

Why are you asking? And of what relevance would any answer be?

Why are you asking why he/she is asking? It is his/her business. Just answer the freaking question if you know the answer. Why anybody is asking anything?

By the way Phlogo's answer is a non-answer without any reference. I could say the exact opposite, and you would just have to believe me...

In answer to Enmos, aside from this line of question being inspired by my freedom of thought, this is why I asked the question. I myself, like you cannot find reference by Einstein at all, regarding Darwin and his theory.

I find it strange that the most important scientist of the 20th century would make no reference to, what it is purported to be, the most important scientific discovery of the 20th century

What do I want to get out of it?

    Information, dear Enmos, information.
    Do you object?

    Ah.

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

That statement of his could be used to contextualize others ...

I don't. He was a physicist, and even as a physicist his expertise was in the corner of the field farthest removed from evolutionary theory (not even much probability involved). Most top scientists avoid public speculation in areas they haven't even looked into. And of course by Einstein's time Darwinian Theory was well established scientifically - there wasn't much controversy at his general intellectual level, for him to take a side in.

btw: Darwinian Theory was not "discovered" one day: it was developed over many years, thoroughly supported with evidence, formalized and then published by Darwin and Wallace, in the first half of the 19th Century. Einstein's birth was many years in the future, his research and publication a century away.

Nevertheless, he commented on things which were not consistent with his field of expertise. He must have had some thoughts on the theory of evolution, but for some reason never commented on it.

    Einstein didn't.
He speculated on most subjects to do with human society which held importance.

As a scientist, he never mentioned it. If was established it would have formed
part of his scientific understanding I would have thought.

Doesn't answer why he would have not involved it in his scientific, or philosophical expressions.

It might be instructive as to where you are attempting to steer this thread if you tell us why you think Einstein apparently made no comment on the ToE.

Yes, that is strange. I would like to hear what he thought about it, although you know he wasn't a biologist.

This is apparently the only thing recorded by Einstein on evolution.
