You only seem to care about evidence when it apparently shows your views to be wrong. Otherwise you rely on faith.

And situations aren't necessarily what they seem.

But Google will back up what I'm saying. I'm not trying to mislead anybody by pointing to a specific site. Anybody can google "religious beliefs of prisoners" and see that there are very few atheists in prison.

I'm asking you. Is what you claim true?.
And if so how have you come to know that it's true.

And I'm telling you you don't have to take my word for it. I came to know it's true by looking it up and so can you.

Jan's right. You are wasting time. But not in the way he claims. You're wasting time arguing with him. He will always resort to the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. He will claim that they don't really BELIEVE in God. Or, they don't really believe IN God. Or, last but not least, they don't really believe in GOD.

You could have looked up the facts sideshowbob cited in less time. You're being deliberately evasive.

Nonetheless your own source corroborates it - a small fraction of a percent - .1 to .2%.

The same source from the article I linked to lists atheism in America at about 6%. That makes atheism underrepresented in the prison population by a factor of about 30 or more.

Sideshow Bob didn't cite any facts. Plus I didn't ask him for facts.
I asked on what basis does he accept his claims as the truth.
If Google was the justification he used to conclude that his claim are truth, then he just needed to say so.

However, let me ask you the same questions (assuming you accept this information as truth).
Do you believe this to be true?
If so, what criterion did you use to determine it was true?

I am not here with an opinion; I am simply moving the discussion along by providing citations that are otherwise hampering discussion.

There is too much suffering in this world for a loving God to exist and those people who cannot see how the existence of pain and suffering really contradicts the existence of a loving God clearly have a mental or intellectual problem.

Good people suffer for no reason so either God is impotent because he cannot prevent bad things from happening to good people or he is just an evil creature.

In my opinion those who believe in God will be disappointed one day when they will find out that there really is no God.

Sorry I must have missed this bit

You looked it up, and as such, believed it was true?
So there was no reasoning, you simply just believed it?

    Why?
What would be the point of living in this world without experience?

If you we're playing a computer game where you kill other avatars, controlled by a different people, in any despicable way you like. Are actually hurting the controller, or, the controllers representative?

How do think it could be possible that God does not exist?

What "reasoning" do you use to reject the evidence?

    How is it evidence?
Can you explain? Or are you going to continue to avoid answering my questions?

It is the only evidence that has been presented. If you have any "reason" to reject it as evidence, the onus is on you to explain it.

How have you determined that it is evidence?
What if the claims weren't true, how would you know?

If somebody presented counter-evidence, we would have reason to question the conclusion. Nobody has.

By analogy, the evidence shows that the earth is rotating from west to east. Nobody has produced any counter-evidence.
