    Well, Why ?

I can't go a couple of days without humming, randomly nodding.. So nowadays, I can't go anywhere without my Mp3 player.

Is there any reason why some people love music ? Or is it just is..

On another note: Does anyone play the drums here? Is it as easy as it looks ?

It's not really addiction but more like habituation (at best).

I like to listen to my MP3 if I am working out, otherwise I would be bored out of my mind.
You can also tune out ppl. If they see you with your headphones on they don't bother you lol

Of all art forms music is the one that most directly and strongly affects me. I agree with Nietzsche that "Without music life would be a mistake."

I don't find it that compelling to listen to all of the time. I do however enjoy

listening to it while I'm on line or while driving my car. It's just background

music to enjoy while my mind is concentrating on the main things around

me. I don't have an MP3 player or Ipod for I enjoy the sounds of nature

that I have around me when I'm not on line or driving. I enjoy the creative

energies that musicians give us also which help stimulate my creativity as

    well sometimes.

I rarely listen to music. Maybe 1/2 hr total a day as I drive back and forth to work.
My husband LOVES music and listens to it constantly. Always downloading, etc. My kids are the same way.
    I like talking better.

I think its got a lot to do with growing up with very little music.

When I listen to music - I like to listen. What pisses me off is people who are like hey can we play this or this...then they start talking all through it. FUCK - turn the music OFF then.

    Depends.

There is such a thing as a great drummer, and not too many drummers are one. So that's a clue that there is something difficult about it.

Not too many people can hold one beat that isn't their own "natural" one for five consecutive minutes.

Try this: set your left hand tapping 1/2, /1/2, 1/2, 1/2, - -with the accent on 1 but the spacing dead even. Then set your right hand tapping 1/2/3, 1/2/3, 1/2/3, 1/2/3, with the left and right hands matching on the 1s (all of them), the accent on the 1, and the spacing dead even in your right hand as well.

Then move the right hand accent to the 3, without pause in the even beat.

Then switch the roles of the hands, without pause in the even beat.

If you can do that in a couple of false starts, and keep doing it afterwards as a learned thing, drumming for you may be as easy as it looks.

For the rest of us, fortunately, as with guitar, performance standards are pretty low in some genres.

i guess the ryhtym of sound stimulates some part of your brain. The same way you get that little feeling in your mind when words rhyme perfectly.

Well maybe if people weren't playing games all the time when you try and talk....then music on you can't talk. When the fuck is it ok to talk :bugeye:

It only appears that way, apparently it disturbs him when you (or other people) talk to him
Keep in mind he's trying hard not to get distracted so he won't talk back.
