" Did not know that, I think I'll look more into it " -- I was saying that about the Baltic (indoeuropean) tribes in the territory of curent Latvia. I have no info if it was so in other regions.
>> Because of the Nazis' flag, the swastika soon became a symbol of hate, antisemitism, violence, death, and murder. Propaganda is effective with ignorant people,..... seems a special group of people had a reason to push propaganda to those ignorant masses who had no idea of what was actually happening in the world.... we all lose.
I dont think the symbols bad, its some of the people that use it, most dont know its peaceful, theres a lot of gangs that spray paint a swastika all over their 'territory' to keep people away, and its not because they are peaceful gangs, if they actually had a braincell and realised what it really means they'd choose something else.
It's possible that the Nazi's didn't even know what the Swastika meant anyway, but that's unlikely so I'll restart. The Nazi's probably thought that they were right in what they did. Yet, since they lost WW2, the rest of the world has begun to regard them as enemies, regardless of what their beliefs were. There are probably people alive today who believe in Nazism, but they cannot say because they would suffer physical and mental abuse from nearly the rest of the world. The swastika was their way of saying that what they were doing was in the name of peace, not hatred. Or it was just controversy, I don't know (where are my pills?).
swastika is power - not bad, not good, not evil, not saint in hinduism it symbolises the spin of the energies of the universe life or death, creation or destruction it's a matter of right or left in every human, every society, every body-cell I think the nazi's wanted to show what grand power they (supposedly) controlled Hitler actually sent an expedition to find the misterious hindu Shambala where he thought lyed artefacts of tremendous power, weapons mentioned in the vedas.
Just as information, in Germany the display of the swastika is prohibited by law because of the meaning it had under Hilter.
<img src="http://www.smev.de/flags/images/20-194.jpg" height=300 width=500 border=1/img> Its so hard to accept its old meaning for some people as constantly seeing it being related to nazism and its true meaning hardly ever gets any coverage on the media. The following like is talking about a swastika carved in a corn field, saying it must have been racists as it is a symbol of hate. Its attitudes like this and ignorance that will ensure that it stays fixed in our minds as a nazi symbol like the pic hotlinked above. Interestomg link I think its a lost cause trying to make people aware of its meaning as most simply dont care, they just want it simply to mean hate. They are trying to declare the hammer & sickle as being a nazi symbol too which is nothing of the sort, ok it isnt ancient but thats not what it means. Damn, the worlds full of morons. Oh yeh, this may be an urban legend but is the swastika an illegal thing in Germany these days? Thats what I heard.
I completely missed that. Doh. Avatar, they may arrest you and laser it off! Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I don't think they can! at least by the law I could get sent off the country note note: latvia and germany have simmilar laws
But Latvia is going to be EU (or already is Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! ) so in theory they couldnt evict you from the country. Are you gonna get it tatooed to your face?
yup, already is they could - outside of Germany EU isn't one country (yet) -- naah, won't tattoo I'd have problems with small minded potential clients I'll gona get a tattoo soon though two snakes with lowered heads together forming two simbols of infinity and no- I don't have a gf (at least now)
I hope it will never be, Im quietly hoping its gonna fail. There are absolutely no border controls in Europe so its effectively one country, I didnt think they were allowed to evict you, I suppose you broke their law. Hmmm, dont know, Can someone enlighten us? This guy I knew had a swastika tatooed to his forehead. Later, he had it removed leaving a laser mark where it was. Dont know if he was meaning it to symbolise nazism or life and luck.
lol, nope, just my hand, it's too large, 4x9cm http://piparmetra.serveris.lv/images/tatoo.jpg -- You still have to show a passport while crossing the border, no?
I'm saying this because there are lists of those so called "unwellcomed persons" I do not know how they function in EU though Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
No, we didnt last time we travelled through Europe, can cross borders willy-nilly and not expect to show your passport. However, its different if you are travelling by boat to europe but once your there there is no need for passport. The link no working.
"Oh yeh, this may be an urban legend but is the swastika an illegal thing in Germany these days?" That's why they have German editions of World War 2 games. I think they replace the Swaztika with Templars. "what would they do if I tattoo it on my cheek?" I guess they would probably ask you to cover it up, maybe using something like blemish concealer. "It is also associated with Thor and acts as sort of european version of the yin-yang." Freakin' sweet! Nice to get some recognition once in a while *grins*
Thankyou for putting in the thread. I had never heard of any other meaning until now. Its not something anyone teaches you. My gratitude SB
Another often abused symbol closely related to the swastika is the crutch cross: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! This cross has been used by Christians, Falangists, Fascists, and Pol Pot's regime for many years until it has almost lost its meaning.
