Why was the civil rights for blacks thread close?

I admit that it was getting a little argumentative towards the end. Perhaps pm's to the writers would have been more in line, than closing the thread. It was getting interesting as well.

The argument of slavery needs to be thoroughly investigated. Why not, here? When it gets testy pm the posters. It is a subject that needs to all sides heard. It is a subject that has been ignored for too long.
