    Pirates....and anyways, it wasn't Navy SEALs it was probably US marines. Wasn't Babary a part of the Ottoman Empire?

    Yes it was Marines, but 8 men took a stronghold of 100. I would call that the first SEAL operation. I believe it was a part of the Ottoman, but don't quote me on it.

    This doesn't make sense....Ottomans working with British...well I guess they are mercenaries..

    No, the pirates were with the British. The Ottomans worked with the U.S.

    Whoops. I know some natives worked with the U.S. The British did have some involvement. They too were hijacking our ships. Thats what led to the War of 1812.

    No official forces deployed by the British however.

    British Navy didn't do it themselves, they hired pirates.

    The Royal Navy didn't participate. No official British forces involved.

    Yeah they did. They Shanghaied our guys and forced them to "volunteer".

    No British ships or troops involved in the fighting whatsoever. I read about the conscription in my history textbook.
