Without Churchill's certainty that Roosevelt would bring America into the conflict, Britain would have made peace with Germany. Britain would have extracted German support (against America) for Britain's Imperial role in exchange for British recognition of Germany supremacy in Europe. Japan's regional supremacy in East Asia would also have been recognised. Eventually, perhaps around 1960, America's attempts, based on its industrial might, to extend its influence beyond its hemisphere would have brought about World War II: the British and Japanese Empires versus the United States. Ya decryption was made in 1932 by Polish cryptographers Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski. The german navy had to use certain "codes"(certain Key/rotor settings) that changed quarterly-yearly rather than weekly/daily like army airforce could do. The navy machine had more rotors was impossible to "crack" unless one had a "log book". The brits captured a U-Boat(U110) by the Skipper of HMS Bulldog whom faked a ramming on the u-boat and aborted at the last minute and boarded the abandoned sub. This was clandestine the Germans had no idea the naval enigma was comprimised. The later American capture of a uboat nearly ruined this "ULTRA" secret. I do agree that the poles fought the Germans in many ways from beginning to end of the war and ultimately lost everything over and over, a depressing story of WWII for a truely noble people.
Sounds interesting. The battle for control in lesser known places around the world was pretty incredible. It was truly a world war. Things were going on all over the place. You could dedicate your life to researching it all! I have great respect for everyone involved in WWII, but when you mainly hear about the main players during school and on TV, it's a little dull. It's a more exciting story when you take into account all of the other places and side stories that were happening elsewhere in the world.
nah american aid was crucial however as milatary it was not nesacery becuase we had russia, but without them we could not have won but i doubt we would have lost either
If we hadn't entered WWII and the other side had therefore won, wow, what a different world it would have been. Much of Europe would have been under the iron-fisted rule of a despot with visions of taking over the world, who would have exterminated millions of his own citizens. East Asia would have been under the control of an empire that exploited its people cruelly and killed millions of them, and eventually challenged the United States and Europe for economic leadership. Yes that would be a terrifying world. Aren't we all glad it didn't happen? Wasn't it worth thirty to sixty million dead--and the ignominious milestone of the first military deployment of nuclear weapons--to make it come out the delightful way it did?
no its was broken buy the poles the gave the french and britiesh working copys of the enigama machine the brits broke the later enigama codes but the original and hardest to break was done by the poles
Russia was extremely important , Pre revolution Russia was literally owned by the affluent West Russia provided Western financiers and Industrialists with a region to exploit for its resources , cheap labour and investment . In 1917 revolution this lucrative market was lost . In between the wars the German industrial/financial complex , decided to take a gamble and invade Russia , this gamble they hoped would turn their fortunes around . Their plan was one of turning Russia into a colony for the personal benefit for exploitation of its industrial/financial complex . June 22 1941 Russia was attacked . The armies of Germany were cannibalized in Russia , in fact Stalingrad and Kursk the 2 battles which broke Germanys back happened before mid 43 , Americas precence was not fully felt until late 43. The air war against Germany which America prosecuted and later invasion of Europe much recognition goes to Britain which consisted of 50% of the effort .So in effect Americas involvement in the war just sped up Germanys demise .
That happened anyway, just under Mao instead of Hirohito. There's little point in speculating on something as complex as history (except for entertainment value), but I imagine that even if Japan did conquer east Asia and Australia, their empire would've crumbled shortly afterwards. Empires don't seem particularly stable structures in this age. Although, like the USSR, they can murder millions before collapsing.
thank you for all there posts they have been very helpful one more question how important was britian in ww2 i mean like all together as important as america?
