Nothing is silly in this world so demure of options...event horizon is near...life is short...So try/suggest/act while you can.

Am I to understand the powers that be have deemed this a bad Idea?

I would suggest the powers that be either haven't read this thread and therefore haven't responded to it, or since it's possible for people to follow links (Unless you try the "I use a WebTV" arguement) that it's likely not going to happen.

I mean images for you might be fine, but people mentioned Dialup, but there is also people using potentially mobile phones to access the forum or RSS feeds in their browser etc.

I don't believe they would show as anything other than a link or broken code in RSS but I'm not sure. I could find out. Don't know about mobile phones (do you really think that many people are using their phones for sciforums? WOW, never considered it) and dial-up hit on bandwidth is minimum. No more so than an image.
I just hope that the powers that be consider the matter based on it's merits. If they decide it's a bad idea then fine, but I think it would add some depth to the discussions and the the visual impact it lends to an argument would be interesting.
