Anyone ever heard of a Turing test? I don’t think anyone can prove there sex simply by written claim. ripleofdeath, I ask for links because I have seen the studies my self but you make the claim of phenomenal differences in male and female brains and that of homosexuals when in reality the studies are not conclusive, not verified and many are still hypothetical.
I've heard of a Turing test... anyone heard of the Chinese Room thought experiment? Since people are unsure as yet what blood flow or bioelectrical activity in the brain (which is usually what people mean by "brain activity" in these studies, although there are other possibilities) it's a little premature to assume that finding increased brain activity in some part of someone's brain implies a sociological conclusion. Unfortunately it is often the psychologist and the sociologist who present the medical evidence to support their theories, which creates a serious problem; psychologists and sociologists don't usually study medicine or even biology. I wouldn't ask a plumber to interpret a CAT scan, so why would I believe one of those guys? In any case, riple, people often appeal to brain activity, hormone and neuroreceptor levels when talking about complex behaviour, but at best they are demonstrating a correlation, not a causal link. (Personally I don't believe that they're demonstrating a correlation either.)
Action potentials in neurons still generate enough electricity to be sensed - that's how an EEG works, no?
BigBlueHead, A EEG only measure the movement of charge, both ions and electrons when moving provide a magnetic field that can be detected. Why should a diffrence be noted? because a nerves system at best can move ion waves at 120m/s while electricity moving through a semiconducter moves at several million m/s.
