We tend to get spates of spammers who try for a while to post lots of spam, then eventually give up and move on. For a while it was shoes. We also get a fair bit of cell phone spam.
James, I once proposed to Enmos that we have some sort of limit on posts before a person can create a new thread. Say like 20 posts. Would this be effective in reducing spam threads?
We recently got the spam as a reply, so I don't think it matters. Safeguards could be put into place, but I'd rather deal with a little spam that gets reported and deleted than have to go through hoops every time I want to post something.
Perhaps we need a legitimate spam sub forum? I'm personally in the market for some cut price Canadian meds!

Possibly he has a bank account in another country, say Nigeria, with money frozen in it. All he needs is your bank account details, and Bingo! you are both rich. That was the Golden age of spam.
Worst calls are the automated messages since if you hang up too early, the damn things log it as "incomplete message" so they just keep calling back, best thing to do is just leave the phone off the hook for a minute or two while it reels off it's message then hang up when you can hear a dial tone. As for spam, unfortunately there are a lot of people out there trying to work out what to do with their new found programming talents, since they aren't very creative they tend to turn to spam or virus writing, or even scams. Perhaps they should think a little harder about what project to put their efforts into before they do something stupid like force entire countries to stricken the net with a heavy overload of censorship to stop them.
