You're sticking a finger through a circular object....think about it.....

    Vortexx:
    You forgot the most important:

When you wear a ring for a long time, the skin in that area either becomes discoloured by the metal (if it's cheap) or less tan than the surrounding skin. You take it off to hit on a pretty girl, she can tell you were wearing one.

Sly, eh? It's like a very visible brand.

My finger grew around my wedding band. I can't slide the ring off my finger anymore.

Like I said Asguard, not all rings will discolour the skin, if they are made of 24k gold, for instance.

Bowser, soak your finger in cold water then try to slide it off (the ring, that is)

<i><B>"Thats sounds nasty Bowser . Did you have it cut off? (the RING! )"</b></i>

I can still feel the end of my finger, so I'm not too concerned. My fingers are getting pudgy, I guess.

    <i><B>"crisco."</b></i>

I think this will require the jewler's saw. Thanks for the suggestion, nonetheless.

Loads of soapy & fairy liquid and hot water (or cold. Cold might cause your finger to 'shrink' slightly)

    stick it in the hole

i believe my title explains it all as far as rings being sexual symbols. but seriously, doesn't it make sense? of course, it's not that simple--the man wears a ring to which complicates the imagery there---but all the same.... finger in the hole.... need i say more?

Girls like promise rings because it shows that the guy is dedicated and actually serious about the relationship. It also give a feeling of belongingness. So, it's not just to show off or whatever. They do serve a purpose.

i kind of think of "promise rings" as marking your territory without having to make any commitments. sorry for using quotes if you're into them but i don't take them seriously. silly really. engagements rings serve a purpose in my mind. when i get a ring, i'll know my sweetheart is financially secure enough to get married. i think that's kind of the origin of them, is that right?

The actual thing about the promise ring, is its a promise to propose later on. At least thats the story as IOve heard it.

Guys like sex. Guys know that if you give a girl a ring you'll get sex. Thats why guys give girls rings.
Why do girls like rings? I have no idea.

It shows to WHOM that the guy is dedicated?
If she needs him to prove it to her, then she shouldn't be with him because she obviouslt doesn't trust him.
If it is to show others that he is dedicated then, yes, it IS showing off.
"Look what MY MAN bought me!!"
    Just like engagement rings.

    Giving guys rings

I'd give my guy a ring only if I knew I rigged it with a GPS tag and he didn't.

Or those chips they put on your dog, though I think it'd be a bit big.
