I manage it. I had great fun watching "Hot Fuzz" and spotting everything from weapons type to buildings to which actor played whom.

I shall have to find out more about this movie though.

Here's a pic that shows the detail I'm talking about. Note the reflection of the boy and girl on one of the shards of falling glass....

I have never seen doctors and lawyers labeled as nerds. Only as filthy capitalist pigs.

Looks like my kind of detail. I am the kind of person who works out what on earth is going in in Neon genesis evangelion.

I know a few lawyers and doctors. None of them can be described as nerds of geeks, in part because they are too deeply embedded in the prevailing culture and generally are fairly well socialised.
Obviously US high schools like to mess about with labels, and their meanings di appear to change over time.

i love how usually threads started with the purpose of attacking nerds/geeks turn into massive anime or star wars discussions

I should clarify things...the Internet is a strange place.

The guys on here are pretty good...and I'm an old hand on forums. There is a strong element of respect....maybe more respect should be shown to a few people.

The worst thing about forums is the tendency to form cliques and this can develop into a Witch hunt.

Its not long before people want a scapegoat and out come the torches, the Witchfinder General..and its...hey I want a fiery torch and a pitchfork too!..lets go lynch some dude.

Americans always show good respect and in turn I have come to repect them..generally...obviously with exceptions

oh yeah, a lot of the other forums i go to are a completely insane congregation of disrespectful lowlifes, it's fun though

but are you saying respectful people are geeks?

    The Obvious

Geeks and nerds are easy to distinguish. I shall first compare the two! Nerds and geeks both like video games, chess, are good at math most of the time, but neccesarily have to like math, and usually not always like science. I personally like starwars, halo, stargate sg1 and atlantis, galactica, discov channel, sci channel, lucas arts games, runescape, and reading books is another one of my hobbies. mmorpgs are my language. animes are conspicous but not worther of my independent sensual aqusition.:runaway:

Probably a nerd. I think "nerd" is usually used towards people who are "smarter than average" and "geek" I believe is having an obsession with something, such as star trek, star wars, anime, Lord of the Rings...etc. Although I think the term is interchangeable because many people who fall into one category usually fit into both. I would define myself as mosly nerdy, but I do have my geeky moments.

Just because I know how to use Visual Basic doesn't mean I'm a nerd.
