I will explain it like this: The Sun has the dimension of depth. Using multiple telescopes, and software that interpolates visual data, we have a view of the Sun that people can dive into. The view goes beyond the surface into the actual weather of the star. The Very Large Telescope in Chile does that to space. It is an array of telescopes and attached instruments aligned with a laser, and refined with software to produce a phenomenal view of the universe around us in very high definition. They (ESO) have published on youtube many, usually 50 second, videos that can be viewed in high definition. The quality of the images make the Hubble look like a toy.
