Can someone please explain what political science is as accurately as possible without making me feel dumb It is just a way for those who are interested in politics to earn a degree in it. It can be just jobs in politics or combined with another major to enter another field. That is the college curriculum aspect. It's societal value is that sycophants can claim some credentials for opining about political issues. Usually such people are hardened democrats, but that does not mean that other political affiliations are not polisci majors. Where I got my degree in polisci, the focus was on political philosophy and constitutional law. In many programs the focus is on theories, not much different from philosophy, but different nonetheless. For me, it gave me a deeper understanding of various political philosophies. Overall, I think it helped me in that area, but hasn't really affected me in any other way. |
